I had the pleasure of visiting your most beautiful state early in June for my sons wedding. I hadn't been out there for decades and was blown away by the scenery and people we encountered as we made our way to Tucson.Saw lots of vespas on the road and in trailers it looked like beautiful territory to ride in. I saw a small group heading south (?) out of Globe as we came up from the salt river canyon. Man that looked like fun, it's on the bucket list now. Anyway the afternoons were warming up but nothing like it is now. How are you guys doing? What does a day look like when it never cools off? How do you keep your spirits up, and what are some extreme heat pro tips you've learned? In 2011 we had an epic heat wave in Kansas with the bonus of extreme humidity on top. I was working outside at the time and managed to have an ok time with it, but wouldn't wish it on anybody. Anyway thinking of you all, hang in there and hope to see you on the road someday.

Congrats on your son's nuptials!

The temps were decent when you visited, especially in Tucson, and the high country. When it's like this, most Phonicians stay indoors. Some of the crazier ones go hiking because the trails are empty. Many visitors don't understand the impact of our dry heat. It's easy to end up in trouble, even when you're doing everything right.

I took a short, under an hour ride on Sunday morning when it was still cool and under 105°. I must not have hydrated well enough, even though 105° is considered a nice, do everything temp, and got wonky putting my scooter back in the garage.

If you can swing a visit anytime between November and May, you should be able to enjoy all Arizona has to offer. We'd be happy to arrange something with the club in your honor.
We haven't seen temps below 110° for over 3 weeks.

Sounds much like central or south Florida, except add April to hot mix as well. I will say, if you are out in it every day working, you learn to deal with it and your body gets somewhat accustomed to it. If you work in an office all day with AC, opening the door to go outside is like walking into a blast furnace. Just the down side of living in a southern, sunny climate. For now, taking a ride and watching the sun come up is a good way to go.

in my opinion too hot to ride but as I just had shoulder surgery I will not be riding or really doing much for a while especially as it was my dominant arm, 6 weeks in a sling that keeps my arm tight across my chest, then another 5 months of rehab. oh well. when I am done should be great riding weather

True, but even the most hardened native Arizonan knows better than to be out when it's like this. All bets are off when it's 115°+ in the shade.

Because of our low humidity, the evaporative cooling vests and towels work wonderfully here. The caveat is you have to be moving to feel the effects.
