Firstly if you get a timing light hooked up to the older 6 Volt Vespa system, was it bright enough and funtional? Where did you connect the alligator clips to get 6 Volt DC?

Dont know how youre going to get 6V DC unless you have a 6V battery. What model scoot are we talking about?
Also dont know of any timing lights that are 6V. Maybe something from the 50's/ 60's? Everything else I've seen has been 12V DC. |

I'm running a 1968 Sprint. AC comes off the stator and goes to rectifier? Headlamp bulbs use DC right! Wouldn't 6volts just make it half as bright if you had a 12volt timing light?

Timing lights want 12V DC. They might work with 6V DC, but I don't think they work at all of AC, regardless of voltage.

Power the timing light with your car battery. It just wants 12v, doesn't care where it comes from.

Static or Dynamic? If you just want to static time, this works well. And with the LED there is no "did the bulb just get brighter?", it's on or off, which is nice.

Most timing lights need a 12v DC battery to power the strobe. The draw is very small.
I keep one of these around. A battery charger works too. ![]() |

Found a $20 timing light. And a 12 volt kids atv battery, wonder if it will work.

My sears timing light looks a lot like that one and works. You might be able to search up the model number to see if you can find the manual or any info on it.
