Morrisey has just said something very profound about the passing of Sinead.

He has a point.

Every day I ask myself, "What does my moral compass Morrissey think about such-and-such?" He may not be wrong about Sinead but we know that even a busted bloated clock is right twice a day.

RIP Sinéad
So much wanted to see her perform live. About 10 years ago while we were living in Portland, she was touring and we bought tickets to see her in a smallish venue in San Francisco. She unfortunately had to cancel that show. Then when we moved to Portugal in 2019, she scheduled tour dates for 2020. We looked at the various European cities and chose Dublin as a no brainer. Unfortunately that show was cancelled for 2 years due to COVID. Finally it was rescheduled for 2022 and we booked our trip. A couple of weeks before the show, it was unfortunately cancelled for obvious reasons. We very much enjoyed our trip to Dublin, but I will always miss not getting a chance to see her perform live.

Sinead and Prince will always be connected because of Nothing Compares 2 U, so here's a Crazy story of Prince summoning Sinead to his LA mansion.

Prince calls her. He pronounces her name "Shine-head O'Kahn-er." He summons her to his place in L.A. He sends a car for her. This is their first interaction in several years. She gets to his house. It's weird, it's awkward, it's creepy. She's alone with him. First they talk in his kitchen. He tells her she doesn't like the foul language she uses in her interviews. She tells him, "I don't work for you. If you don't like it, you can fuck yourself." He walks off. She is summoned to a dining room. He tries to serve her soup. He gets really aggro when she refuses the soup. He hassles the assistant who brought out the soup because she won't eat the soup: This assistant turns out to be Prince's brother, Duane. Prince leaves again, and returns with pillows, and announces he'd like to have a pillow fight, and hits her with a pillow, and clearly he's stuffed some sort of heavy object into his pillow case. She runs out the front door. He chases her. It's nighttime, she's alone, has no idea where she is, she has no way to get back to her own place other than to run. She runs into the woods. Eventually she makes it to a road, and to some other houses, but then Prince shows up driving a car, and gets out, and they chase each other for a brief spell, and then she runs to one of the nearby houses and rings the doorbell frantically, and finally he drives off. This chapter ends with her writing, "I never want to see that devil again. But I think of Duane fondly, quite often."

The number of absurd Prince stories out there are amazing, but I like she told him where to go. An unstoppable force met an immovable object.

Well thats quite a story adri, I've read quite a bit about Sinead the last few days
and although I was never a fan of her music especially I certainly could appreciate her talent.

As for that far less talented Morrissey, why he felt the need to use her death to get himself in the headlines just goes to show what a bell end he really is.

Not as much as the Bell Ends who all crawled out of the woodwork and fawned over her loss when none of them would touch her with a barge pole because of her strongly held beliefs.

I didn't see any of them support her recently.

At least he's not a hypocrite.

As I have seen in my own family mental illness is a very real threat to life. Couple that with a tragedy like losing your son to suicide and it is almost insurmountable without help and sometimes even with help. I hope she and other troubled souls that took this path have found peace.

I can't second stickyfrog's post more emphatically. It hurts to bring up the subject of mental illness with someone whom you fear might be at risk, and it might well piss them off. It's not as painful as losing them, however.

The decision to take one's life is frequently a sudden one, an impulse, not the outcome of extensive planning and thought, unless it's something like an end-of-life medical choice. Remind the person they are loved. That's not a bad idea in general; you don't need to save it for special occasions.

The only way I could point out his very obvious and well-documented hypocrisy would steer this into a political discussion. I'm guessing you know that better than I. So, his scathingly insightful take is that entertainment industry types are ALSO hypocrites? Christ, what a refreshing and timely exposé.

That's not in question, more to the point is that out of respect he should of kept his thoughts to himself at least until the poor woman was buried.
