I am now busy restoring a 1956 VN2T for a friend. The bike still has all its original parts, the only item missing is the air filter.

The TA 18E carb does not have a choke. I see there is an air filter with a built in choke available, but it is 8 times more expensive than an air filter without the choke. Can you start this bike without a choke?

I suspect without the air box and relying solely on the tickler you will be in the 10-20 kick range.
