After an egregiously long time, and many a travail and tribulation, I'm once again legal to ride. No more shall my forlorn bikes languish under tarps. No more shall my Shoei gather dust in the closet. No more shall my bones remain unbroken and my skin un-roadrashed.

BACK IN THE SADDLE BABY!!!

Anyway, yeah… went down to the dmv yesterday, got my endorsement added back to my license, and got my Allstate inpected, titled, and tagged. The amount of money they lifted off me to achieve this end was appalling.

I'd planned on putting comprehensive coverage on the bike (theft is mostly what I'm worried about) but my agent said only one company offered coverage, and it was liability only.

Couldn't get the brake light working, but that's ok, I guess… don't really have brakes to speak of lol.

Left the dmv on the bike with a few errands to run… ended up spending the whole day just riding around all over the place, albeit very slowly on this particular bike.

Goddamn I missed this

You must be waiting for a copper to pull you for that dangling plate. I don't know about Oregon, but the CHP throw the sirens on immediately for things like that.

All joking aside, I figured zip tied to the spare was better than stuffed in the glove box. And I figured with paperwork dated that day, I'd be fine.

Grabbed proper mounting hardware on my way home.

I really need to hurry up with my Rally rebuild… this Allstate is barely fast enough to be comfortable riding from one end of town to another. I'm guessing 45mph on flat ground. Acceleration is dandy tho.

Thx, dude… I pulled off those silly mirrors, all right… as soon as I got home, lol. They were just kind of… in the way. Came with the bike, put the rack on there to keep legal, as I don't have handlebar mirrors.

it's a clip from the video for the B-side single from Birdsnest new romantic death rock interpretive poetry jam band: Undercover Opossums and the Shouty Accordions. the song is titled ham sammies with dirty fingernails off the album transistor radio static, expired gift cards and deli workers; things of that nature

Also check Progressive for insurance. All six of my bikes cost me like $200/year with them. Not a ton of coverage (liability+personal injury+damaged safety gear), but the price is right to get legal.

So… anybody know if I need the one-pin or two-pin brake shoes for a '65 Allstate? These brakes really are awful… almost rolled into an intersection and got t-boned by a cop that was speeding through his stoplight with flashers on and siren blaring

I actually have progressive, and it is cheap, but apparently they don't offer comprehensive coverage, just liability.

'65 should be two pin on the rear. the shape of the case is a give away so you can verify without opening anything up.

Just checked the vin, def a '65 (had problems in the past w/ title year not matching model year).

Now I'm wondering if maybe the reason the rear brake is such trash is that the drum is lubed up w/ gearbox oil

Congrats on the reUP and welcome back to Scooterville!

I am also in Oregon. Wherebouts are You? PM me maybe we ride together some time.

For insurance I use AAA, with a rider thru Progressive for the scoots. I have full comprehensive, with 'stated value' coverage. I tell them how much I want to be paid out if the scoot is totaled, and they calculate the rate accordingly. It was very easy thru AAA. Highly recommend!

Fix up those oily rear brakes! Dont want ya smashing yourself up, after you just got back on 2 wheels! Have fun and scoot safe!

Yeah it will look better without. It is such a great original looking scoot anyway and cleaner is best. You got any fresh pics? Eyelashes emoticon If you want a mirror that will keep you legal, I think I have another one of these you can have.

And have you thought about doing 'a few things' to that AllState motor so you can keep up w/ traffic? That could be a fun discussion. I think that there is a FOUR speed, no? So already you're half way there! And do you have a shock on the front?

I coulda sworn we had a conversation via PM right before I went off the radar here but there ain't nothing in my inbox, so maybe I'm crazier than my shrink is letting on...
Aren't you in Roseburg? I'm in Salem.

Yeah, it's a 4-speed, and nope… no shock. Pogo stick up front. I still have have the front fork from my VNB, along with the LML engine set up for 8's, and every other part I could strip off that frame, for that matter.

I dunno… LML motor… 2-port pinasco shenanigans… I don't wanna get get kicked out of Gick's "F%$# 9 pages of jetting advice" club.

Once I get that Rally finished I'll be hauling ass all over the place.
