I've just seen this one on Ebay UK, and no FYI member 'nomadinsiam' I have no connection with this one either. Seller claims it is an original Italian production with dating certificate to confirm. Nice!

I do not include the Ebay name of the seller, nor the item number...so you can just browse it to see more pictures if you would like to...nomadinsiam

This is better than the last one you posted, but there are still some things that are off and would require close scrutiny in person. I would like also to add that I don't know the situation in the UK. I am surprised how many Vespas are up for sale on Ebay there, much more than the USA. Unfortunately, most, if not all of the ones on Ebay over here are not as they seem and are built to swindle the unsuspecting buyer. Of course, anyone who just hits the "buy" button without doing any research has more money than actually sense.

Yes, Tierney, there always seems to be dozens of recently restored models on Ebay UK with all sorts of far-fetched claims about their condition and origin.

But lets face it, would the average buyer actually care? I've seen some that have been purchased, then obviously not used at all (used for display, to impress the neighbours, bucket-list nonsense etc) and months later re-advertised at an even more inflated price! Such is 'collectability' it would seem.

EBay motors UK is one of the main market places for second hand motors.

Brought a few off there.

My biggest gripe with bodges are the prices and the slightly delusional attitude with what the owners think they have.

I don't see it as frequent with other vintage motors.

I have no problems selling and buying bikes from SEA if you know what it actually is and the price reflects that. Substandard products should be low in price. So getting it safe on the road will cost you.

Yes, 108, I could not agree more. There used to be an Indian seller on there selling restored Vespas at a reasonable price (around £1000 plus shipping) and at that price, they could well have been worth a go, particularly given that there are always lots of tatty looking PX's at twice that price from U.K private sellers.

Granted that most bodges I've seen in person aren't worth much… the engines are a Frankenstein build of worn parts that are mostly trash.

Weld repairs on shafts and gears are comical.

You do realize that most all of those bikes 'restored' in Viet Nam that look so nice on eBay, but too often soon have serious problems are also genuine original Italian production?

And right you are, they can be great shop decorations, but unfortunately that's not what most ppl buy them for.

If you are in the market for a premium older 2T just be patient and be willing to pay a premium price or do the work to make it look like new yourself if that's what you want.

Re the Sprint - I have no idea of the provenance, how original or restored or how much is being asked. It does present well, but we can't tell much more than that from a few pretty pics.
