I bought this new 10 years ago and never a problem until headlight bulb needed replacement. I did the necessary disassembly to access and replace the bulb. Put everything back and all was fine, EXCEPT the glove compartment would not open. The key/switch/push would not work. The key would turn to enable starting, but the "push" would not push. I don't think it's mechanical problem because the switch is in a completely different location. Must be electrical, but the fuses are inside the glove box. I don't see how that partial disassembly, very straightforward, could affect this problem, but it must have. Any ideas?

It's mechanical - the push-in of the ignition barrel operates an 'L' shaped latch mechanism at the back of the steering column which releases the glovebox.
The usual reason this doesn't work is when someone has taken off the whole glovebox (or disturbed it by just half an inch) so the 'L' shape doesn't connect properly. At the factory they use a rubber band to hold it in place while the glovebox is attached. I don't see how changing the headlight bulb would interfere with this - with a flashlight and a mirror through the LH black kneepad you should be able to se the mechanism. You might have to remove and replace the glovebox - have a rubber band handy!

Before you get too crazy, just try pushing in on the glove box while depressing the "open" button at the same time. That worked on my 2018 when suddenly my glovebox wouldn't open. Let us know if that helps...

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm still at an impasse. Your photo of the latch, and the rubber band is helpful and makes it very clear, but I don't have access. In order to remove the glove box completely one of the fasteners that secures it is accessible only when the glove compartment lid is open. Catch 22 think I'll have to scratch my head and ponder a bit more come back to it in several days. The mystery is HOW this problem suddenly developed. No crashes, no jarring, I'm very easy with the scoot, always garaged, and never a problem until I change the headlight bulb, totally unrelated, and yet…………

You'll need to open the latch by using a stiff wire (or very slim hands) via the left-hand 'knee pad'.

Push or pull here at the red arrow if you can get to it through the knee pad or horn cover opening
