Modern Vespa

I am new to the scooter group. I spend over a decade riding police bikes and my body is hammered because of it.

I just had my 3rd back surgery and have an artificial hip to boot.

My doctor made it clear to me no more big bikes or I could wind up in bad shape. I have tried traditional trikes and the Spyder. Hated them. I still want to be able to lean! Sadly the Yamaha Niken is too tall for my short legs.

So...I had the chance to ride an older MP3 and immediately had fun. Felt like riding a real motorcycle and I am hooked.

I have a line on a nice unit that is fairly close. (Living in South Dakota there are not dealers in the area. Closest is Denver or Minneapolis.

I know this has been asked several times but I am going to ask again in hope there may be new intel or sources out there.

I need 2 things:
1 Taller windshield
2 Highway pegs.

Any commercial sources or ideas would be welcome and I am looking forward to another chapter in my riding life.

Footpegs
The Mp3 doesn't have a factory kit and the only footpegs for the Mp3 were made by one of the forum members in small batches. This forum member is no longer making the brackets or pegs. You'll need to design and fabricate your own, or locate someone who has them and no longer needs them.

Windshields come in all shapes and sizes from the barely there to over the top including a windshield wiper (only the French - see last link).

The MP3 has gone through 3 generations, and is now entering its 4th generation although those are so new they are pretty scarce.

The 2016 model year was the first year for the 3rd gen in the US.

As for the windshield, I find the optional original tall screen (Piaggio calls it the Style or Lifestyle or some such thing) BUT it all depends on which generation MP3 you have as each generation uses a different type windshield and they are pretty much not transferable from one gen MP3 to another.

Attached is a pic of said windscreen, and is the same that I use on my MP3. I find it better than the GIVI and a few others I have tried. It has become my one screen for all seasons. The windscreen can be purchased here at a much better price than in the US.

As for the footpegs, sometimes a set turns up for sale on this forum so just keep your eyes peeled for that although they usually get snapped up immediately.

On the other hand, If you do want a bike with a windshield wiper then this is pretty much your only stop. Why anybody would want a bike that looks like this is beyond me, but if that's your thing then . . .

Oh good god - nooooo!

And am I the only one that thinks the windscreen on the MP3 is attached with way too many spacers and what not? It is a complete b*tch to put on again, with plenty of bits that are eager to fall off and bounce on the floor and potentially go into oblivion? :-/ I think it's like 5 or 6 different things for each and every of the four screws that attach the windscreen, and they are all loosely coupled?

OK team, went for the maiden voyage this weekend. Loved it overall but need to make some changes sooner than later.

I ordered a Puig windshield and it should be here in a few days.

Specifically, I need a gel seat. I am told that part # 2S000137 will fit the 2022.

The only one I can find on line the guy wants $300 for the seat and $200 to ship it.

Any sourcing advice?

They sell covers for the seat (air-something) that add comfort for those who need it. And they attach very solidly.

Personally I think the MP3 500 seat very comfy - compared to many other motorcycles.
