looks scarily flimsy to me

Note: correct term is not swingarm, it is exhaust support bracket

Looks largely intact between the bearing and the shock support, so I guess it's not as flimsy as it looks at first glace.

It looks to be much stronger than the one on the LX.

First, it ISN'T a swingarm, regardless that MV denizens keep calling it that. The Vespa swingarm is underneath and forward of the engine, and can have its own problems as well. Check the parts list if you don't like this observation...

It's just the exhaust support bracket, with half of the suspension load on it as well - and it's only that load that needs any strength, mostly down to the axle with some locating help at the front.

I know it wouldn't be purist…

…but if they switched to belt drive like on the AK550, that would take a significant load off the rear suspension. (Just saying).

Anyone fancy making an (expensive) kit?

Actually, it'd ADD load to the suspension if the engine became sprung weight rather than unsprung.

I know i know i know. I just don't expect people to straight away know what I'm talking about if i correctly say 'exhaust support bracket'

What The? emoticon
Just guessing here, but, given the original post had a picture of it, I'm, well, I'm hoping people would have grasped the situation.

I sympathise - but once the correct description keeps getting used, perhaps folk will 'get it'.

The long-winded way is to use "exhaust support bracket (erroneously a.k.a. 'swingarm') " which is an awful mouthful.

MV can't do an auto-correct as there is a real swingarm that's been the subject of many posts concerning those needle rollers and the lack of grease from the factory.

A Vespa can do quite well with just the LH shock.

Fournales (IIRC) do such one-shock mods.

That's IF the real swingarm continues to do its job...

I would like to know if it gets stuck and won't come off like the stock shock holder?

I watched their product video, it looks VERY nicely machined, they do very good CNC work. I wonder what the weight savings is over a modern GTS Bracket?
