Greetings all,

I bought a 2016 GTS 150 3Vie in Bangkok a few years back, and have grown attached to it. I used to drive vintage, but like the automatic transmission, and the extra disc brake in the rear means you can even get it to stop. We are moving to Germany next summer, and I would like to put it in the container. Getting it there is not the problem, but making it street-legal might be. I can't find out whether a Vietnam-produced GTS 150 meets EU/German emissions standards.

Has anyone out there tried to do this?

Many thanks.

The emissions should be very easy to pass as they have a tiny engine, and I believe the emissions rules for Europe are per category not per cc.

It will be in the category L3e-A2, which is medium performance motorcycles up to 35kw (47hp).

In London, the mayor has expanded the ultra low emission zone and it's extremely strict - yet even 2 stroke Vespas are able to prove they are under the requirement - so I don't think you'll have issues with such a modern Vespa.

The main thing is checking all the lights are in the right place (I know America has different indicator locations), and also you will be charged VAT and customs when you import. I'm not sure if this is based on the value of the Vespa today, or based on the bill of sale from 2016.
