I have recently discovered that my stator on my PK100S has all coroded wires so will need a replacement. I need some advice before buying one. The stator on the scooter has 8 wires (3 going to the CDI Unit and 5 going into a 5 pin style plug. I have attached pictures. My PK has no battery, no electric start or no indictators. I have been advised that a stator which is for an electric start model will still work fine with mine as a Pk stator comes in 2 variants (a 3 pin plug for a non electric start model or a 5 pin plug for an electric start model). However mine is a 5 pin plug but i have no electric start so i am very confused. Im wondering if anyone can shed some light on if an electric start stator will be fine to put into my non electric start scooter with no modifications.

Have it rewired. Any repro stator is crap compared to the old original ones. Even Piaggio's are now Indian made and total crap…

Yes get it rewired if you have someone available. Otherwise, I'd suggest you cut the wires 2 inches from the round plug. That way you can solder into those and reuse the plug and the pins.
Does your harness have 5 wires going from it? Maybe someone installed a 5 wire stator into a 3 wire harness? |

Thanks for the replies. It all looks how it should be. When i look at electrical diagrams online for my scooter, the diagram does have the right amount of wires coming out of the stator and plug but it threw me off when it says about having an electric start when looking for a new stator. I have 5 wires going into the plug and then coming out of the female part of the plug is actually six wires however the yellow comes out of one pin, and splits which im guessing one goes to rear light and one goes to the headlight. When i look at the electrical diagram it all looks pretty bang on to the that, which makes me think its orginal. Ive also never understood mine is what i believe to be a 6v system, but ive never had any regulator and ive just had to replace the CDI unit, and now the stator may need rewiring/replacing and im worried all of this messing with it will ruin the balance of the electrics.

Henri from the smallframe forum on facebook might be able to help.
Edit, I've just seen you've already reached out to the forum and got a reply from Henri, you are in safe hands with him. |

Looks like the 6v unregged system stator with the bottom 2 coils supplying red for the horn & headlight and top 2 supplying blue and yellow for pilot, tail, brake light. The 12v electric start stator has 2 coils for headlight the other 2 are for battery charging. It may be possible to wire it in, but you may suffer bulb blowing due to the different power output!
If there is nothing wrong with the coils it would be better, as others have said, to get it rewired. |
