Hi all i recently bought a Piaggio p3 250 ie 2007

the bike was fine to ride but was sluggish so i fitted a new spark plug and fired the bike up it started just fine so i then turned the bike off now i cant start the bike i notice the front light are off also after checking all fuses and the battery is at 13v. it just will not start when i turn the bike on i hear the fuel pump prime and i hear the starter motor trying to start but nothing. i also took the plug out and then started the bike i can see petrol coming out the spark plug hole.

i took the front fairing off the bike and checked all the 80amp fuses and cleaned them. still no go i really don't know what else to do any help would be great guys.

Because you changed the spark plug just before it wouldn't start — I'd first suspect the spark plug wire. Is the cap seated all the way on, and tight? Did you pull the wire out of the cap when you pulled it off?

I would still look for a bad connection in the spark plug wire. It possibly was good the first time when the scooter started, but vibrations loosened the connection. The unburned petrol is another clue. Check for spark.

Had the same problem with the injector dumping fuel in as soon as the ignition was on and found that fuse 11 I think was high resistance but the fan ran all the time as well. Check that you have batt voltage both sides of fuses 7 to 12 they look OK but are prone to giving trouble

after fitting a new solenoid and spark plug cable it fired up but.....

the recommended spark plugs when fitted the bike fires up and stalls. so i used a spark plug with a thin top section and it worked just fine Piaggio really need to sort out their spark plug connectors its not a tight fit at all i had to cable tie the ngk spark plug tip to a cable to make sure it does not fall out.
