Modern Vespa

i just got 3 vespas from auction. NEED VETERANS HELP! im a vespa virgin but been a mechanic over 20 years. this 05 et4 has 514miles on it n only has one key (brown). ive checked plug cap ohm at 5.4 checked spark with adjustable gap its throwing spark over 1/2'' drained fuel and filled with premium rebuilt carb and it flashes only once for.7 seconds on code n light stays off. dont have a compression checker but it seems to have excellent compression. havechanged plug twicen the sob still no start. am i missing something

how's the intake manifold look? air filter? replace fuel & vacuum lines?

did you strip and dip the carb or just blow out the jets?

Everything Greasy asks for is pertinent to a diagnosis of your problem. You've come to the right place.

An et4 ALWAYS needs a strong battery.

Draining the fuel was the right thing to do, but it might be better to replace the fuel tap and any related hoses too.

When you have time, check out Craigs post in the archives about the resurrection/refurbishing of an et4. Even with low miles, you're bound to need a new belt and maybe tires.

Get her started first. Everything else is fairly simple.
