The Osram low-beam install went smoothly with better light output.

Question 1: Before converting the low beam to this LED lamp, my driving output voltage would always be 4.7v. Now (with the lower wattage LED) the voltage is consistently reading 4.8v under the same riding conditions (speed, temperature). Is it my imagination or does the lower power demand of the Osram actually save gas?

Question 2: I had to purchase a pack of two bulbs (in the US) for a bit over $100. What is the life expectancy of these LED bulbs? I ask because, if they last a long time, I'll sell the extra bulb to anyone willing to split the cost. If they historically fail, I'll keep the 2nd bulb for a spare.

Thanks for any tips.

IF you purchased the OSRAM HL Gen2 version in H7 form then the lifespan is 5000 hours IIRC. In addition, OSRAM puts a 5 year warranty on that bulb.

On the other hand, if you purchased the less expensive HL EASY then that bulb only offers about 1000 hours and only has a 1 year warranty.

I see absolutely zero incentive to purchase the HL EASY version except that it is even more compact.

Concerning the power consumption, this is from a previous discussion thread on the LED bulb vs Halogen for power usage.

https://modernvespa.com/forum/post2542102#2542102

Since installing the OSRAM LED bulbs, my "low beam" is now so bright that drivers think I have my brights on. I've noticed that some drivers (usually large angry pickup trucks) actively react angrily because they think I'm harassing them with my brights. But I wont swap it back to Halogen, the power savings and the fact that people notice me at all is worth it.

41 Watts at 12 Volts AC-Single is 3.42 Amps vs 1.97 Amps if 3-phase. (41 Watts is the difference between regular 55 Watts bulbs and the LED at 14 Watts)

Right now my Mp3 is running the following major electrical loads
* The Philips H7 use 55 Watts at 12 Volts is 4.58 Amps just for headlights
* Heated Gloves at 22 Watts at 12 Volts is 2 Amps (seasonal)
* Upgraded USB Plug for phone is 3 Amps output

Switching to the OSRAM 67210C
* Uses 14 Watts (1.2 Amps AC-Single or 0.68 Amps 3-phase)
* Reduced electrical load on bikes Alternator frees up Amps for accessories
* Increased durability and lifespan of the bulbs
* Very bright light output vs conventional bulbs
* Lower temperature within the enclosed (unventilated) headlight housing

I lowered the angle just a few clicks. Srill much better lighting at night, have not had anyone flash their lights.

You are harassing your fellow drivers, for no valid reason.
Adjust your light properly.

Honestly I didn't realize they are adjustable.

I've swapped bulbs several times and even replaced the whole housing after it took a rock and cracked. Each time I opened it up it seemed to fit back into the same position when re-attached.

I could use some guidance on how to properly adjust it as its not readily apparent. Meanwhile I'll see if I can find it in the service manual.

Thanks for that info. Fortunately, I did get the Gen2 version so it looks like I can sell the extra bulb.

From my manual, attached as PDF)...

I'd like to point out that just because some over-worked truck driver flashes its lights, it is no proof the headlight points too high and is thus illegal. That said, easy enough to check and correct if that's the case.
