To start, occasionally when accelerating from a stop I hear a pretty nasty grinding noise from the rear of the bike and it feels like there is some slipping/hesitation. This is pretty loud and unpleasant and I guess is what every one describes as 'shuttering'. I took it as a sign to replace what I assumed was the original belt and rollers (both looked good) but the noise returned afterward. I did some light sanding of the clutch bell as part of that but didn't spray anything.

I've done a bunch of searching on this topic but haven't found a definitive solution. My understanding is that if I open it back up and sand the clutch pads and/or spray with brake cleaner it will just be a temporary fix?

Other common advice seems to be to accelerate abruptly, which I do think I do. The quick acceleration is the best feature of a cvt, so why not take advantage of it?

Anyway, please suggest solutions. Thanks

There really isn't a permanent fix as far as my experience. Scuffing the clutch shoes and the clutch bell lightly with 220 paper followed by cleaning those parts with brake cleaner helps. Also, I clean out all the clutch and belt dust from inside the cover area with water based spray cleaner and a toothbrush. No sense in having a "dust storm" inside the belt cover reapplying itself to the clutch immediately.

how many miles have you got?

the clutch pads and bell may be fine with the driven pulley assembly needing attention or possibly one of the components is causing it to engaging harshly.

usually, but not always dressing the clutch shoes and bell with 120 grit and giving them a blast of brake clean works though.

Hi, having checked the obvious re you're post, have you checked the bearing race in the variator side cover to see if its starting to break down, just a thought.
Cheers.

Is grease leaking from the rear pulley? You may need to replace the seals/bearings(mileage?).
I had this problem at 25,000 miles on my SH and 40,000 on my BV. I replaced the seals/bearings on the SH but had to replace the pulley on the BV. Can't replace the bearings/seals on the BV pulley.

It's a 2009 with just 2700 miles.

Rusty clutch shoe pivot? Sounds like BUGGSY has it. The best way for your bike to rust is lack of use, even if it's stored inside.

My 2006 GT200 had that problem. I decided not to spray brake parts cleaner into it, I didn't want to get it on the belt or into the bearings in the rear clutch/pulley assembly. I had recently replaced the belt and rollers, sanded the pulleys, clutch shoes and clutch bell. About 1000 miles later it started making that noise. The scooter had less than 14,000 miles on it. I decided to just go ahead and replace the complete rear assembly, and that solved the problem. It's not cheap though, at over $300. And I have no idea how long it will be before the problem reoccurs. If it does I'll just live with it.

[/quote]Did the same thing on a low mile 2018 Primavera that I couldn't get rid of driven pulley chatter upon take offs. Got a brand new driven pulley assembly from Scooterwest for $185, it even came with a brand new clutch bell (even though website said wasn't included), scooter worked silently and perfectly after
