Yes, both men being incredibly successful but someone inside found a stick to beat them both with when their faces no longer fitted.

What's interesting about this version is that the first attempt didn't work so someone has ramped up the ante to get the job done.

I'm wondering what's next if this fails ?

Back to the part of F1 I prefer, the racing.

First qualifying of the season in Bahrain and more of the same.

Max in Red Bull on pole with Charles a bit behind in second in his Ferrari.

I guess we already know that Max will win, and I am guessing that Checco will use the old Honda powertrain, RBPT, to move up to take second tomorrow.

I will watch anyway, hoping that I am wrong.

Bill
Charles had a quicker Q2 time than Max achieved in Q3. In his interview, Charles said that as he had to do his first Q3 run on scrubbed tyres, he wasn't able to accurately know how far he could push on his second run - so qualifying could have been a different result.

Lots of talk about how each driver has prioritised race pace, so curious to see how today pans out.

But qualifying definitely seems a lot closer than 2023... unless you're Alpine!

As for Christian Horner, the screenshots of some of his messages from a Chinese account don't seem legit to me, and don't seem to reference what the media have been sent.

I think there's a chance that real screenshots have been sent to high up figures and the media, but someone has created fake screenshots to run alongside them.

The screenshots posted for example have both parties using "your" when "you're" would be the correct spelling in the context. The majority of modern phones would certainly automatically correct this spelling error.

So he made a huge mistake by not using the scrubs in Q2 and saving the new set for Q3.

Think the mistake went back to Q1. They didn't know where the other teams would place, and so he went for an additional soft tyre run that wasn't necessary.

I think the title was inspired by the same set of circumstances that we now find ourselves in again.

I think we agree and I'm really sure you know more about it than me, and I also pretty much can't stand the guy, but there's something about the way he goes about it that just has what Miles Davis would call that thing.

It's a bit like the people who say that Taylor Swift had rich parents who moved the family to Nashville when she was a teenager and hooked her up with the all the music business connections money can buy, and nowadays they got that technology and all, you see, and that's why she's big. Again, I don't know much about Taylor Swift, but I mean she's got to have something besides that to do what she's done. There are a lot of girls with rich parents out there.

Can you tell I'm a musician, what with my analogies?

Yes it works so lets roll with it.

Do you remember when Seal tried to make an Album without Trevor Horn ?

It didn't go well and so they kissed and made up.

Newey is 65 and is probably going to retire at some point so look at what happens to the teams that he's left and the respective performance in their cars.

Ford, being Ford have failed to consider this as far as I can see.

Think back to when Jaguar were in F1. Ford made some terrible decisions and drove it into the ground.

Just sayin.

Red Bull were having talks with Porsche for a while to supply Power Units but they wanted more control of the team than RB were comfortable with, which is ironic when Ford have a habit of interfering.

Exhibit A was Farley not wanting to be ignored last week by suggesting that he should have been notified about the details of the enquiry before it was done.

I think that they are getting in bed with the Devil.

I say well done to Adrian Newey for taking last year's Merc shell, modifying the halo to give it the downforce and showing Merc engineers it does work.

Don't think so , perez in the same car could just keep Sainz behind him and than Max did a two second faster lap , same car same tyres
That lap and the first lap were the only two he was on his Max

It must be somewhat embarrassing to have a good idea but you can't make it work and then someone else copies it, improves it and shows you how it's done.

I like Charles but to watch Carlos outrace him while keeping Hamilton's seat warm will never get boring.

Well Jos does have a history of violence against certain members of his family.

Too right, Leclerc doesn't like getting his elbows out and Max can intimidate him with no problems, where as Carlos doesn't mind going head to head and he's got a for sale sign above his head knowing other principals are watching, but he's out to make a statement to Ferrari, as far as he's concerned it should be an Interesting season as he will be out to out race Leclerc every race.

So even though it's an injustice where do you think that Sainz will find himself in 2025 ?

Logic would suggest that he'd go to Sauber in preparation for Audi but that would be an utter waste.

Is it me or is Audi being in F1 really weird ?

I bought into that narrative at first, but the more I think about it the more I hate the idea. Sauber is perennially mediocre, and Audi won't change that overnight. These next few years are likely to be the best years of Carlos's career. Wasting them on Sauber/Audi while they figure out what they are doing seems like a bad idea for Carlos.

In other news, it seems probable that Alpine are making a play to be Chief Backmarkers this year. Ever since the Piastri war with McLaren, it's been apparent to me that the Alpine organization is a giant pit of dysfunction.

Autosport say that they resigned but they are probably contracted for the rest of the year.

I'll make a couple of predictions.

The Audi F1 effort won't go as expected, if it happens at all.

The Ferrari/Hamilton combo won't pay dividends either.

When I look at how the rest of the drivers deal with Max, it's not too bad, except for Hamilton who refused to call Max by his name in the first season
