I still think Max holds the title of World Class Dick to go with being World Champion F1 driver. But if it's an actual race whose outcome is not predetermined within the first two corners of the race, then I will accept an actual hard-earned win -- even from Max.

I'm not a Max fan either but watching him pounce and then hang back and then do everything right to get second was pretty cool to see. I didn't want him to win but had the hard tire strategy worked out, I would have been happy to see it.

Since both Checo and Yuki managed to find the barriers today, I suspect that both of their fates are now sealed. Plus, Yuki's outburst during practice yesterday (which was only fully aired on F1TV) isn't exactly recommending him for a promotion, especially among the likes of Marko.

I vote Liam Lawson for the 2nd Red Bull seat. F1 has quite enough stagnant drivers that reached their apex years ago. We need some new blood.

(Though I do quite like Sainz and thinks his apex is yet to come).

I agree, but only if he lands himself a ride in a decent team.

I'm trying to figure out why you would have talks with plenty of successful teams, which have led to offers, but then you then choose to do nothing.

Unless of course you were waiting for someone else to make a decision.

If there's one thing I've learned over the last few years of F1, it's that contracts are essentially meaningless if enough money is involved.

With you on lando. Id have done exactly that.

As to oscar, his face and body language suggested he was just as disappointed with the way he got his first win as lando. I suspect there's little bad blood between THEM....but guarantee that team management will have lips firmly on lando's hindquarter for a spell.

Mrs. Gbaby has a theory about Max's behavioral problems: it's the Red Bull.

"His house is probably full of free cases of the stuff and he's contractually obligated to drink it. I know what you're like when you have too much caffeine and it's not all that different, let me tell you."

It does make some sense, except for the part about me.

It's a good theory, but Occam's Razor would lead us toward a simpler explanation: that Max Verstappen, being the son of Jos Verstappen, is merely just as much of a twat (note: British usage) as his father.

I'd like to know what was wrong with Andrea Seidl who seems to have departed the team.

I'm going to stick my neck out and suggest that by Audi putting all of its eggs in one very public basket it's going to risk being made to look foolish.

It looks like it's pulled out of every other series to focus on F1 but I think that they are making a mistake.

It is easily seen that Max is an incredible driver.

But I think that he got too comfortable driving a car that was much better than the other teams had for their drivers.

I don't think he likes competing against cars that are better than his anymore.

When he was getting started, and Mercedes had an unbeatable car, it was a challenge.

Now it is not any fun for him, and it shows.

to keep your post in context.

the reason he is TAKING a 10 place penalty is because they are using above their allotment of ICE. they are doing this early than needed as part of their long term strategy. this way they won't take a penalty later in the season when its more critical.

spa is a long fast track, drivers can overcome grid penalties quite easily.

I think it's really funny that the narrative for the last couple of seasons has been about how much Max has matured, how he is now so much more gracious and calm.

...all of which completely went out the window the very moment that another team caught up with him. When it is no longer a case of Max fucking off into the sunset on the first lap of every race, Max goes right back to being l'enfant terrible.

It's an interesting remark about Spa. Yes it's long and fast but just like Suzuka, if your car doesn't handle well it's short comings will be exposed on those endless corners.

Spa is the best. It's easily the best. Yes it is.
