why would Lando leave and go to a lesser performing team? He is beating the hell out of either Mercedes week in and week out.

McClaren has made huge advancements the last 2 years and Mercedes has made huge declines

Because it is becoming clear that Lando is not the #1 driver at McLaren.

And Mercedes in 2026 might very well be the team to beat.

I'm not convinced that either driver is being shown any bias at McLaren and it's refreshing to see. However I think it's going to count against them at the end of the year.

I've always acknowledged that Max is an excellent driver. But he is also eminently unlikeable and prone to crashtantrums when someone (Lewis, usually) is beating him.

If we live long enough, everything was better in the past. And for us, it really was. But even as we were busy loving those things in their now-vanished golden state, there were older people who hated the things we loved and saw them as corrupt versions of what had once been.

Alonso also has an open ended contract (it's up to him to decide if he races or retires), but has stated that he will be racing beyond the 2026 season.

McLaren have decided to favour Norris but he's unlikely to score points tomorrow! If Leclerc wins (not improbable), and Lando fails to score (not improbable), Leclerc will overtake Lando for P2 in the drivers.

Also lots of talk of "Red Bull struggling", but if you look at Checo in isolation, he's been getting stronger and stronger with the latest updates - extremely close to Max in both qualifying pace and race pace, it seems it's mostly Max struggling with the car direction.

And Gasly is disqualified from qualifying due to a fuel flow infringement, in case anyone cares….some folks can't catch a break
