I'd put a new battery in my wife's Lx150, kept it on battery tender intermittently through the winter, rode it 5 miles to work much of the summer with my GTS out of the picture....and on trying to start it after some work, it would barely turn over, and didn't respond to external charging.

I know it's possible for a battery to give up early, which may be the case, but wondering if there may be something else afoot that I should be checking for?

Batteries are like bearings. They can fail at any time and for no reason.

One year seems very short a life time for a battery, but I guess it is possible.

On the other hand, it could be there is something on the scooter that consumes energy even when the scooter is switched off.

One of the most obvious suspects is the light switch in the under-seat storage.

Good suggestion, but the '07 LX doesn't have one.

And Bill Dog, you're right.... I was just concerned if there were something that wasn't allowing the battery to charge or otherwise damaging it. In that case I'll be buying a third battery soon.

Was it a name brand battery like a Yuasa or a cheap Chinese battery like the ones sold by Amazon? I had a cheap china one in my Kymco and it only lasted one season.

I think battery manufacturers often provide a 1 year warranty - you might want to contact the retailer to see if they'll replace it?

Mopedlar: It's a name brand: Malossi. I'd expect it to stand up fairly well.

Berto, it's well over a year, I think I got it in June of last year. Close, but not close enough.

Maybe my problem was trying to pass on my not-so-lightly used scooter to her? Nerd emoticon
