Modern Vespa

Just picked up a whole shops worth of stuff, including these cases. Corroded, and the flange around the crank area is knocked off in one spot. Looks like someone did some port work too. Look salvagable? Think water sat in the crankcase for a while.

These cases looked much the same, even same chip close to one of the intake ports. They cleaned up nicely, the motor runs great and the repair I made seems to be holding. More here: PT Danmotors Super-T & more

Your rotary pad looks OK and there's still plenty of the locating ring left to register the case halves properly, just use good sealer on your case joint when you assemble, after you clean up and look for any cracks. I use the spray copper stuff on the gasket, but many here prefer Hondabond.

you can use a dremel with scotch brite polishing bits to clean this up:

I did it on my waterlogged cases, worked well.

I love those bits - use them for everything!

Cleaned these cases with Skotchbrite pads too...






but not them little Dremel jobbies!
These 1", 2" & 3" disks get in the corners well and made quick work of it

You need to get your cases cleaned up first to see what you really have. .. .but looks okay so far. I wouldn't bother with scotch-brite pads; too much oxidation.

I still couldn't get how you cleaned that engine Gick. Did you soak it in something then soda blast it?
