Picked up a new motor for my 2013 GTV. The donor was a 2011 or so GTS 300.
New Motor is installed and everything seemed OK. While addressing a small Intake leak, I noticed some shavings on the Bottom of the gas tank.

I don't have a photo of the where it hits under the tank. The photo shows the part of the motor which hits the tank. When I compare the motor with my other bikes, there is definitely a difference in the gap between the motor and the gas tank.

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced something like this, and what was the solution. Is there any adjustments or shimming which can be done? Could the suspension swing arm get bent somehow.

I have mounted and dismounted many modern motors, this one has me scratching my head.

Going to address it this weekend, but any tips or help from the forum would be helpful.

do the others have a different shaped bottom of tank or do the others have a different bit on the engine in that area?

I'm assuming you are saying that "L" shaped bracket with the bolt in it is rubbing on the side of the gas tank. Just looked at wife's 2013GTV and there looks to be about 1/2 inch or more clearance between the two. Tried getting a picture but could not get a good image.

Only thing I can think of is the fuel tank not mounted right or the whole engine would have to be off center. Is the rear wheel centered on the rear fender? Seems if it was off enough for that bracket to hit the tank it would be noticeable looking from behind the scooter.

Was this scooter in an accident?

Hi The scooter was not in an accident, I blew the bottom end out of the motor doing Cannonball this summer, so I fitted it with a new motor that I got from another bike. I have not had a chance to tinker with it this weekend, but will evaluate the tank and see if it could have broken loose or something.

I have not had this experience before, so I don't know if there were any changes between 2009 and 2013 to the mounting points which would make it not compatible.

If I can be of any help let me know I have a 2013 GTV sitting out in the garage to look at.

check the shocks. I'm betting you've got the sequence of buffers or spacers out of order or not installed correctly. or somehow the wrong shocks which are shorter?

When you say sequence of buffers, what do you mean?

I will double check the Shocks tonight I am pretty sure I double checked the work we did and made sure the spacers were set correctly.

Reviving this thread.
I have removed the motor again, and put a new gas tank in while the motor was out.

I am starting to think the Motor mount could be bent, I ahve tried a few things with the bike on the lift and a scissor lift pushing the bike up to free up the motor. Kickstand up as well.

I have placed a Pry bar between the Motor and the chassis moving it away from the gas tank. Seems to move it a little bit. I purchased this bike with 84 miles on it, currently has 16K, and these have all been with me.

I am getting ready to order new motor mounts and follow the information here. https://cheekythoma3.wixsite.com/itsme/swingarm

I am afraid it is not going to be an easy project.
