Hi all. Just a Quick question as to what this Brown fuse relay thingy located next to The battery does. Electric start not working now despite new battery and this fuse holder looks to have melted....involved in Electric start-up procedure maybe...

The brown one is your fuse. You can get new terminals and a fuse holder to tidy that up. It usually goes under the battery cover.

Your starter relay is the yellowy looking one at the bottom of your first pic.

Mine's a 2001 ET2 but here's my wiring diagram if that helps (below).

Else, loads of handy information here: https://manuals.wotmeworry.org.uk/Vespa/ET2/ 👍

The original fuse holder would clip into the trim somewhere, making it neat. It's called a blade fuse holder - not sure if you'd be able to get the same one. By all means try.

TBH - as long as you have a blade fuse holder, and it holds the fuse as well as protecting from short circuits (ie wires are sufficiently insulated/covered) you'll be fine.

Tidying up the terminals, ensuring they're secure and insulated, is your best bet. You don't want the red wire touching the body of your scooter. ⚡️🔥

Put it somewhere you can access so that if you can remove/replace the fuse.

Thanks for that infi...found car blade fuse holders on amazon....Wonder IF they Will suffice. Am i correct thinking The flat fuse that goes into this holder protects The entire scooter and all its functions or is it just involved when using The ignition/starter?

All electrics AFAIK (anything relating to the ignition key on) - don't quote me. It's been a while!

The starter has its own relay, so the starter motor current doesn't go through the blade fuse…. but the starter signal will require the blade fuse to work and have continuity if that makes sense.
