I had to buy a lot of things in order to get the somewhat different stator for my 1980 Bajaj (1974/75 Vespa Sprint)

So what's this thing? It has 5 gears so it probably not be useful for my scooter

An intermediate shaft for a large frame motor that needs a spa day in a bucket of Evaporust.

yeah it is. if it came with a parts lot from a super, that's more than likely what it's from. it's 4spd. count the numbers and see what you've got. it doesn't look too roached out, so it's probably rebuildable.

The big gear talks to the little gear on your clutch, then the four other smaller ones talk to your separate four gears on your axle. Your kickstarter racheting gear slips on the shiny place at the small end and spins this thing when you kick the lever, thus spinning the motor if the clutch is engaged and launching your scooter if it's not in neutral. It's kinda like the ankle bone is connected to the leg bone, leg bone connected to knee bone....

That makes sense.

I've been soaking the stuff in Awesome Orange ($1.25 at the dollar store) and you can see the difference already.

The little gear thing looks like a clutch but smaller than what's in my scooter. I paid $35 for the lot
