Can anyone decipher how I'm supposed to wire this in? I have black/red and blue off the stator. I've tried every wiring combination, added a ground, kill wire to ground, but still no spark.

Trying this CDI out as an alternate for the Flytech variable timing CDI on my stock Rally.

from what i read, it seems very straight forward. Ignition is usually Black/red and ground is blue. feed both to the coil and should work just like the CDI that came with it.

Tried that, and just tried it again. Nada.

Tried all the combinations with both wires and single wires on each leg and nothing worked. I'll call SC in the morning and ask if they know anything.

Anyone else know of any Variable to static CDI's on the market that work with the Pinasco Flytech? It's overkill for my stock Rally and im sick of blowing pistons riding into headwinds.

Seems like a great solution. I too have a Rally 200 running a Pinasco ignition.

It has to be a bad CDI. You have the black-red on one side and the blue on the other. There is nothing else to it.

Scooter Center didn't bother trying to explain install. They believed me when I said I've tried all combos and are supposedly escalating this.

I know Chandlerman had a Pinasco ignition in the last few years, and nothing would work with it except other Pinasco bits.
One thing I recall was definitely a stator coil, not sooo sure on the CDI however. Worth asking him.

As a side note, a friend had a Malossi ignition and one of the small wires broke off at the body of the CDI. He was a long way from home that weekend, all he had in his spares was a Vespatronic CDI. Hooked it in, fired up straight away and off he went. Backwards. The thing would simply not run forwards. Eventually used a self-tapper screw to hook up the Malossi CDI as a workaround for the weekend.

So I followed up with SC to remind them and they've shipped a replacement CDI to me. My luck with BGM electronics is probably 25-50% Facepalm emoticon so I bought a third one just in case.

I also asked for specific installation instructions just to clarify. Here's what I received.

"Red/black to red
Blue to blue

If this will not work try the other way round.
If this will not give a spark the CDI is defect and had to be replaced by us."

Hopefully the last follow up to this post will be in October when the cdis arrive.

I installed this BGM CDI on my Pinasco EI. Ran my bike and so far happy with it. I was getting pinging in this Rally 200 cylinder withe the variable timing ignition, in 4th gear. Now with this static CDI set at 23 btdc, clear sailing.

It's electronic, so just thinking you may be gotten a bad CDI right out of the box.

That was short lived. After 5 miles I was getting hesitation just off idle. Then it went completely dead. No spark. Test with known good components and their BGM CDI is dead. .
