A buddy whose p200 I just installed a Vape ignition on, just told me his scoot is hotter than before. I suspect the smaller Vape fan isn't pushing as much air as the larger finned stock flywheel was.

So, is there anything on the market that fits a little tighter so more air is forced to the cylinder shroud? Or are the losses negligible with the new Vape/ flywheel cover?

Negligible/different. One thing that does increase temperature dramatically, is timing. Where was this set compared to before? And what is the accuracy confidence?
I would guess this is more like the issue.

Edit: Even if set exactly the same, if the Vape has greater spark intensity, it will be like advancing the timing a little.

Is this a kit that advances or retards timing? Also how or where is he measuring?

The curve of the Vape static vs the Ducati is also a bit different.
And perhaps a next-up mj could be tried with that stronger spark(?).

Things definitely got weird today. Found an exhaust leak at the stub. Real old school Malossi kit with the smaller exhaust stub. Sip Road 3.0 with a shim was still blasting out exhaust/ oil on the kickstart lever and cases. Spent 1/2 bottle of brake cleaner on it and told the owner to re-shim the exhaust and come back later.

Was originally running a 135 MJ in it. Bumped it up to 145 so the owner could ride home. Will have to see what happens with the exhaust fixed, but yea I'm thinking you're right about upping the main with the stronger spark. Maybe even go to a 9ES plug.

As ray8 posted, they are not the same timing curve. Even the static road vape has a curve.

How the TDC mark is made is often the issue. And from the chart it's clear to see the rpm the timing is set to matters.

Spooging out the exhaust stub on the old kits, always suggests the jetting is not so great. What carb?

135MJ was already big enough. If running hot it's something else and not the Vape fan. I have the same Vape on my blue P and had no issues…

What setup do you have with yours? Owner is a large man that rides fast on the open roads we have near us. 100 mile Saturday isn't uncommon.

Thats strange... 135 main sounds large though, even if the exhaust is a performance one.

Change the AC160 for an AC120. Reduce the MJ to suit. And it will be a different scooter. Faster and with more mpg for those long rides.
