Speedo cable worn, broken. Speedo drive worm worn out. Check speedo cable outer is actually firmly connected, remove headset and reseat. You can push the speedo cable outer cable up by grabbing it near the lower front forks as you pull off the headset, gives you the ability to pull the headset up and hang over handlebars to check everything is seated. As to the speedo light, this sounds merely a coincidence as the speedo is a rudimentary piece of kit driven, not electrically influenced and drive by a cable and a worm drive connected to front wheel. Speedo cable replacement is relatively easy, replacing the plastic worm cog not too bad but can sometimes be a bugger to get out. If its just the cable and the worm drive, you're looking at under £30.00 to fix. Very much doubt the actual speedo instrumentation unit packed up. I will let somebody else chip in regarding the speedo bulb as never encountered this issue, however, I think from memory the speedo bulb just pushes in underneath the speedo unit.
