I'd try get the real deal, not that I'm a stickler for other brands/versions… but in this case dellorto doesn't fail to deliver…
I do appreciate it. I'm with you on the genuine Dellorto. Wasted a lot of time and money trying to make aftermarket carbs work on my bus. All those problems went away when I had the originals restored.
The right carb(s). Priceless.

Sorry, still have more questions. The clutch.

VMC 10 Molle Ergal is out of stock at SIP:

This one is available:

https://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/product/clutch-vmc-cosa-2-sport-ergal-10-molle-interlocked-clutch-cosa-2_93246130

My guess is that the second one labeled "interlocked" is for scooters with an interlock switch for electric start (which I don't have).

I'm ASS-uming that it will work anyway. There is also a steel version, but I would prefer aluminum.
Just guessing but I think interlocked means splines instead of woodruff key

There are other clutches. SIP think their new clutch is a contender

Cogs are different and extra cost

That makes sense. I have never ordered from 10 Policci, but they have it.

And the carb at scooter center or casa Lambretta

I got mine here. No VAT for US customers and shipping via Fed Ex was around $45 and only took a few days. Ignore the mistaken references to BGM.

Ordered the clutch last night from RDV scooters and it's already shipped. Just after I placed the order, I noticed they stock the carb. Oh well.

Works out about the same or cheaper.

Thanks!

I suppport Scooter Mercato whenever I can, but RDV has become my go-to for stuff Mercato can't get. Good prices and they seem to be the only Italian vendor that has bothered to figure out shipping to the US. As a bonus, you'll learn some Italian along the way.

You may have seen this in one of my earlier threads, but be forewarned that the VMC "frizione" has no place to hook the usual clutch holder tool. You have to use the GickSpeed rope trick.

Scooter Mercato is always my first stop. It's great to find a shop on the continent that will ship to the USA. I have ordered many VW items from the UK and they have been set up for decades to ship to the US and not tax accordingly. Not so much for Europe.

The rope trick is priceless. I started using it recently.

The one from your stella should be fine, you just need to remove the internal oil channel a bit. The bonus of using the stella cover is the double o ring on the clutch arm.

I used the stock cover on mine no problem. I shoved the LML shaft in it with the double o rings.

Thanks! I think I have a spare Stella cover kicking around.

Placed my order for the remaining parts including a good selection of carb bits. I'm sure there will be a few more odds and ends.

Still waiting for the last of the parts. Slow orders from Europe, the carb and needle set are taken awhile to come in. Also waiting for a SIP R 3.1. I don't know if I going to install an EGT gauge, but I do have an AFR meant for the bus that I never installed. The bus has just never required the same kind of jetting adventures that tuned Vespas do.

It's all sitting on my bench waiting for other projects to get done. Just like a big, cool Lego set, I'm not playing with it until I'm ready to actually build it for real. That's how stuff gets lost under the couch.

Also, check the machined depth of where the front rubber mounts go. Lots of cases (mine too) were machined too deep so spacers are required instead of the normal washers…

Sorry, but what is NU205.

You beat me to my next question, so cheers. I remember reading about the possible need for spacers for the rubber mounts. I guess I will need to buy those.

Look at all those goodies! I'm installing lambda bungs on both my exhausts to double check my tuning. Gage will be temporarily mounted for that. I loved how easy it was to assemble my Malossi cases. Does yours have a weep hole for the internal axle seal? The fit for my internal seal seemed too loose so I went external. Lots of debate about which route to go. Of course you have to run a newer style axle to utilize the internal. Maybe that's why Malossi didn't drill the weep hole. Interested in how your reed setup goes!

I honestly had no idea that such a thing existed. Makes sense that it would make it easier to take apart the case, although I was liking the idea of not having to put a bearing race on the crank.

I will have to have a look at the case. I'm installing an EFL gear set from a Stella engine. I've never used an internal seal on my P200 engine or the other Stella engine. Neither had one installed.

As for separating the case halves with a one piece bearing…couldn't the SIP case tool be used on either case half to separate the case halves and push out the crank? I once used it to split an old 2 port. Worked really well, but the engine was pretty worn and sloppy. My P and LML cases have pretty much come apart by hand.

I used to get the jitters putting the bearing race on the crank, but now I just use my homemade crank tool with a different attachment for the fly side stub. Also picked up a set of generic bearing and seal drifts from Harbor Freight to replace my custom assortment of ground down pipe fittings.

Hoping to get to this engine soon.

If your axle has this machined area on it you can use the internal seal with the Malossi case. It will also work with the external 30 mm seal. Old style axle can only run the external.

Everything should arrive this weekend with the exception of the clutch cog from SIP. Not sure what's up with SIP.

Wondering if I could get it from Mercato:

https://www.scootermercato.com/Scooter-Parts/Clutch-Baskets-Back-Plates-and-Drive-Gears/433547

It's for a VMC 10 Molle ergal clutch and a 65t P200 primary gear fitted to an LML Christmas tree.

Thanks

The Cosa2 gear cog is the same regardless of the brand of clutch. VMC, SIP, etc, all use the standard gear. The Scooter Mercato one will work just fine.

Getting this engine started with one of my least favorite jobs. Nice to get it out of the way. Switching from a 68t to a 65t primary. Third one I've rebuilt, so it's getting easier.

I was going to use the Malossi 1 piece bearing, but it seems I forgot to order the rear axle bearing.

Having a tough time getting the bearings in. Heated the cases with a torch and the clutch side and axle bearings went right in.

The flyside is a bitch. Selector box bearing went in with a lot of effort, but I'm not sure if the flyside crank bearing is seated. Some pics might help.

I can use the case tool and the end of a drift to draw it home if it's not. I'm just not sure if it's all the way in.

Thanks.

The bearing is definitely fully seated, but you're concerned because it's still sitting a little proud?

I don't think that's an issue since the seal is on the outside of all that, but only a dry fit will tell you for sure.

It's because there looks like there is a gap between the bearing and where it seats looking from the outside of the case. I will try to get a better photo.
