I see the Vespa / LML P-range styled 4T pop up from time to time, like a shy school nerd at a dingy pub.

What will ever become of it?
It's kinda rare, unique, has old-skol style without the modern stigma of 2T... will it become a collectable? Should it?

Will it ever be revverred like a rare Kiwi SS90, a Cosa, T5 or more like a LD Lambretta or Maico, a real mini-mini vs a maxi-sized mini?

P.s. see, sometimes I actually ask a difficult different question!
And yeah, I'm thinking of getting one, almost

4t is marginally better than electric. Still in Cosa territory though.

I was looking at the Stella 4t frame…pondering the possibilities of putting in some kind of huge non-Vespa kind of engine.

Some inside info. SIP has bought all the LML tooling, casts, etc. in India and they will be reproducing the 4T parts…

In other news, they got shafted by Vape who they also sold to SC. The whole ignition kit was initially developed - designed exclusively for SIP but as it turned out a "Handshake Deal" wasn't enough…

Very interesting!

I'm a little surprised the 4t assets were well-enough preserved to do much more than re-engineer from scratch. LML has been shut down for what? Four years? And I thought the business had been liquidated.

Not that I'm complaining, mind you, I just hope they can pull it off, because I would actually probably ride a 4t Stella some, if only for the reduced noise levels.

Bummer about Vape, but I also find it a hard to believe there was *that* much Vespa-specific engineering going on there.

I'm waiting for someone to buy up all the 4t shifties and turn them into electric.

I may be the odd-ball here, but I LOVED my 2002 Bajaj 4t. I put over 13,000 miles on it and it was still going strong. Valves were getting a little floaty, but I could go 60 in a tuck all day long.

Granted, I did a few things, like changed the air intake, HRA reverse megaphone exhaust, shorty windscreen, etc. It was torquey and pulled nice wheelies.

Some good times on that Indian Workhorse, with the huge loaf of bread seat, and the cavernous glovebox. Razz emoticon

I'm no expert here, but let's talk about the differences between the LML 4T model, and the Bajaj 4T like qa had and like the frame I have stashed away. I've never seen the LML version close up, but I understand that with a swing away body section to uncover the motor, it is completely different than the Bajaj 4T which is more like a traditional one piece Vespa frame, and you could probably put a 2T motor in it.

I'm pretty sure it could be done w/ some minor surgery, more here: Bajaj LML 🇮🇳 hybrid w/ autolube & electric start

4T owner here. Hold the tomatoes, please.

The rear body does ride on a scaffolding, some may say like a Lambretta. I'd argue it's more like the bigger version of a Velocifero frame.

On the 125/150, the gearbox is pretty compatible with EFL. The intermediate shaft looks like a 2T at first blush, but it's a three piece assembly that is held together with a splined central shaft. Cush drive is 2T compatible. Clutch too. I loaded the gearbox with Italian/DRT goodies. Only really pain is that the 1st intermediate gear is 11T, which limits the driveshaft gear to 58T or 59T. An aftermarket intermediate center shaft with a 12T gear would be welcomed

Weird bits are the drive for the oil pump and the reversed drive for the camshaft. Modded cams are going to be a WebCam rework unless someone manufactures new ones. I bought a OEM spare to have reground with a GY6 A8 or A9 profile.

Stator looks like the early 2T Stella, but the CDI is a dead ringer for '80s Honda. It'll run with an Elite 80 module installed.

Was semi-smart and got the adjustable CDI for it, as well as a Polini 165 kit and a GPR exhaust before they went extinct.

Weakest link seems to be the bearings, just like other LMLs. I replaced everything in the case with SKF, except the intermediate shaft bearing. Got a legit Torrington for that. Known failure is the big end bearing. Its a weird size, but I found a replacement in NTN's catalog. Crank bearings are the same as the bigger Italjet Dragster/Gilera Runner.

If you guys want pics of the innards and such, I'd be glad to oblige.

I have LML 200 4T since 2016. Paid $1400 for new.
Done on it near 50000 km. Including 2000-3000 km trips, off-road and mountains trips.

The biggest problem is the lack of spares on SIP or expensiveness in other sources.
Rear shock, engine silent blocks, rear brake shoes, clutch basket, crankshaft, piston and lot of smaller parts...
Quality of scooter is not very high. Wiring loom is absolutely shit same as most of rubber parts and carburettor.
All cables is same with PX and lot of chassis parts is the same.
It is noticeable heavier than PX.

It is absolutely different riding feelings than PX. It feels heavier and not so sharpie, but lot of fun too with lot of torque from bottom.

Despite this I like it and have lot of wonderful moments with it.
And it always take me back home on its own wheels. Never any serious faults on the roads.

IMHO it is good scooter but need attention and technical skills.
