https://www.throttlepack.com/post/fix-sticky-handlebar-grips

Haven't read the whole article yet but I make a conscious effort to never touch the grips with dirty hands, the machine feels older and more used than it is with sticky grips.

Control points hands, feet, seat, on two wheel machines is so undervalued.

There was lots of bad advice in that article. I would never use a pressure washer anywhere on a bike, especially around all the switch gear on the handlebars. That's guaranteed to screw up something electrical eventually. Second, don't use "rubbing alcohol " to clean off oily residue. Rubbing alcohol is usually denatured ethanol with mineral oil added to make it "rub" better. Denatured alcohol should be okay. Some of the other things recommended would attack the rubber of the grips depending on the kind of rubber.

I would use a solution of dish soap and just wash it off. If once doesn't do, do it again.

Never had the problem in all my years riding. Maybe it is because my scoots were always stored in an enclosed garage. I do wash the scoot with my garden hose, scrub with a soft brush and soapy water. Rinse with the same hose, then use my leaf blower to blow the bike dry.

No sticky grips here in Frostbite Falls.

When it's hot here we sometimes have the opposite problem, sweaty slippery grip, gloves help a bunch.

I stopped reading the article at dish soap, thanks for the info and synopsis👍🏽
I've used alcohol wipes on my MTB in the past, it would get the grips kinda gummy for awhile, baby wipes works better.

Cal,

I think you called it right. Different climates for riding. Hey, I was over the moon having hand warmers on my 2022 Kymco AK550. We have had a warm Summer, but it will 30 Degree low Saturday with a 51 Degree High.

You guys are like the Saturday Night Live Episode "Sweaty Balls".

I've had Oxford heated grips in the past - when they were wearing out they went sticky.
