All these posts have helped me restore a battered VNB over the past year. I installed a P125 with double yellows but am currently stuck connecting to the new VBB wiring harness from Scooter Mercado. Can I convert to all AC using a regulator? I understand I'll need 12V bulbs and an AC 12V horn. If this is possible, can I use this aftermarket regulator from Scooter West?

https://www.scooterwest.com/p-regulator-for-1977-1979-p125x-p200e-218060.html

Or do I need two of these regulators from Scooter West?

https://www.scooterwest.com/modified-ac-regulator-and-mounting-hardware-to-work-with-double-yellow-stator-plate.html

Could I mount the regulator near the motor? If so, where would it be recommended?

Lastly, which wires connect to what? Here are the two wiring diagrams I'm working with.

P125 with double yellow:

VBB harness for VNB (no speedo bulb):

I've included my before and after photos. Frustrating at times but I had the biggest smile when I took my first ride! I'll call out that the scooter must have been involved in an accident since I had to replace the fork and (painfully) cut the front mudguard since it was rubbing the frame.

Thanks in advance. [/url]

You need a VBB/Sprint stator.

I would give SM a call and pick that part up. they can walk you through it.

So this conversion to AC by Scooter West is not possible with my setup?

With a double yellow you could go this way:

Convert your 70's US Vespa to No Battery 12V AC

But there will need to be other modifications to the harness if it is a balanced ac bike (brake switch, maybe more)
