Hey All,
Random question about my 2007 GTS 250ie's water temp gauge. No matter the temp outside or how long I've ridden, I've only ever managed to get 2-3 bars (at most) on my temp gauge. If I am stuck, say at a train crossing, and it's hot, the fan will kick on, but the temp gauge never moves above 2-3 bars.
The sending sensor and thermostat were replaced when I first got the bike. So, those 'should' both be good.
The coolant was flushed/replaced at the beginning of the year, so that's good, as well.
The bike runs great, no matter the temperature, and I've bene in traffic in 85F+ degree weather, with no signs of over heating.
So I guess my question is, any one else had this? Is my gauge just junk? I'm not too concerned about it, since the everything else checks out, but figured I'd at least ask.
Thanks for your time!

That sounds like normal operation to me, though I'm not familiar with the specifics of a GTS.
Does the gauge move at all? That is, does it display none or one bar when the engine is cold?

Thanks for the reply! Yes, it starts at one bar, and then will slowly get to two bars, and sometimes (rarely) get to 3. But it does move. Everything I've researched or seen, shows it at half during normal operating temp. My only other thought, is the new sensor, although OEM, maybe something changed in them from the original 2007 one? Just weird more than anything.

What's "full scale"; how many bars in all?
I'd check the coolant level to be safe, then not worry about it.

Full is like 8 bars. Coolant is full, I even re-bled it last night just to see if I had an air bubble or something, but it was good!

I don't see anything to be concerned about. Maybe some other GTS owners will chime in with what's normal for them.

07 GTS 250 here, mine usually goes to 5 or 6 bars, it went to a higher reading during the winter a few years ago, Everything operates normally, no overheating, I have not changed the coolant in 7 years. 45550 miles and going strong.
