I got stranded by a dead battery a couple of weeks ago. Luckily a way better friend than I deserve was kind enough to bring my GTVhome in the back of his truck. When I removed the battery, I saw the install date and was amazed. The battery had been installed 7/11/13. I've never heard of a battery lasting OVER 10 YEARS. It was and Extreme brand from Batteries Plus too, not what I'd consider a premium brand.

What's the longest you've ever seen an motorcycle battery last?

Of course, all vehicle batteries last longer if you run them until they fail and strand you somewhere. I typically get about 5 years out of a good 12v scooter battery. When they start to give me some trouble such as not holding a charge well for a few weeks or struggling a bit with cold starts, I replace them.

I usually see similar signs of degradation, but only just bought this scooter this summer. It's my first scooter, so maybe it was struggling to start and I just didn't know any better. I planned to replace it at the first signs of problems. I just didn't expect that indication to be complete failure, LOL.

The battery in my BV 300ie is still original off-factory.
The BV is 2012 built. The battery is a Yuasa sealed 12V 10Ah.

I keep it on the tender, certainly in winter, and so far I do not notice a decrease in battery condition.

Next to the BV we also have a Renault Megane from 2011 that also still has the original off-factory battery. Not on the tender. It is the everyday car of my daughter.
