I updated this post with some new visuals. See later posts

I really love the vintage look of the GS. Especially as in this photo, so white and so pure. It is the main reason why I choose for a white GTS too.

Ofcourse I want to make some small adjustments just to make it feel unique and a bit more my own but I don't want to ruin the aforementioned purity. If anything, I'd like to add some minor with a link to the vintage GS.

Any ideas?

My bad, sorry. This one then 😊
I find it hard to keep them apart to be honest. Was the original photo a 150?

But indeed. What I really liked about this one is that the color, the chrome, the piaggio logo and the Vespa logo all resemble the GS.

without additional photos it's hard to say. it's most likely a sprint 125/150, but it could also be rally. either way it's early 70's due to the badge.

So I've been doing some designing and photoshopping before actually going to the printshop. What do you guys think? I thought the Rally look was ok and tried to replicate it for the GTS. Also did some racingnumber (my birthyear) and tried to stay within the Vespa branding but eventually choose for a simpler setup. Please brainstorm with me.

I like where you're going with these designs in general. I personally find the lines placed on the rear quarter to be a little distracting, though -- they parallel the bottom edge of the sheet metal, but that seems to highlight the non-parallelism of the lower fairing.

I don't know if this bothers anyone else but me, so take it with a grain of salt.

I have applied stripes to the lower fairing itself before, with some reasonable success. (I can't seem to find a photo, though)

Thanks, I tried to place the lines in the exact same setup as in the original Rally. That is if you look at the airroster the top intake and the almost-lowest one. But I get your point. Its pretty hard since her hips are not as straight as the vintage Vespa's

Yep. I fully get where you're going with that, and you've done a good job replicating the Rally look.

It's badged as 125 TS (Turismo Speciale), so a 125cc Rally.

EDIT: I should probably have said that I have the rear view shot of this pair as my laptop wallpaper, hence the badge reference.

I've put original accessory stripes on my orange LX. Note how they did not go on the front fender.

Here's a very old thread I posted when I did racing stripes on my GTS250. Notably, these were inspired by the Shelby Mustang GT stripes, rather than anything Vespa specific.

Reflective Stripes

But as I look at these now, they suffer from the same non-parallelism problem. So you can probably safely ignore my complaint.

I very much miss this bike.

I thought the stripe was crooked at the rear but I didn't want to be nit picky because I too like the design.

My kids, "Dad why can't they make brand new ones that look almost exactly like the old ones?"
They say this about classic cars and trucks too.

And they are absolutely right!
Please explain what you mean with 'crooked'. I din't understand what you are trying to tell me.

There's some visual trickery going on. Yes, your stripes are straight, but the cowl itself is not -- it bows out in the middle, toward the camera. This means a straight line in 2D will look "off" against the real-world object.

When actually applied to the cowl, the stripes would take on the curve of the cowl and everything would look fine.

I've highlighted the bow here in red.

Thats right yes. I'll be designing the stripes in Adobe Illustrator with a few cm overlap. Once cut from the tape and applied I think I'll need to do some finetuning on the spot. So it's not exactly a plug-n-play sticker I guess. Luckely I have friends in a signing/advertisingstudio who'll help me out.

Looking closely I agree I have to angle it 2% upwards at the end. You can also see it in the 'airvents' lines. The stickers need to line up on left and right. They do not. It's a photoshop thing and won't be replicated in real life haha. Thanks!
