Still have the paperwork from my Malossi kit so looked it up. In NGK speak, plug should be a B8ES or B9ES. Also noticed recommended ignition timing is only 13-14 degrees BTDC, which is pretty low.

I read on a forum people was recommended the timing to be set as standard. If that is wrong I will change it. The revs seem to be abit high when I go slow. Timing is out then

It looks like standard T5 timing is 16 degrees BTDC. If it was me, I would dial that down to match the Malossi spec. To be clear, this has nothing to do with how your plug reads. In fact, plug says timing is ok.
B8ES should be fine for riding around town. Not sure why ground strap looks so well-done. |

If you have a different head like MMW or MRP you can run 17-18 degrees if your squish is set right. There is a decent amount of power in doing so. Don't try that if using the stock head and Malossi head gasket.

Sorry for the misdirection. I did not realize these kits do not come with a cylinder head. It makes sense that timing should be 13-14 degrees BTDC with a bone stock T5 head, but you can run more advance with a machined or an aftermarket head.
This could also explain why the B8 plug reads a little hot. With a machined head and advanced timing, you might want to try a B9 instead. |

I've been told different things here. The head has been machined for a malossi Vespa t5 so do I change the timing from standard or keep it as it is.
