Am I the only one to notice this; all the "reviews" I read talk about using the Key Fob to open the seat when the Scoot is Locked or Off and riders' complaints about the wait they encounter when doing it AREN'T what I'm experiencing.
I approach my locked 2023 GTS300 Super with the Key Fob in my pocket, I press the black Seat UnLock Button on the handlebar, and (Shazam) the seat unlocks—every freaking time.
*
!!I can even LOCK the Fob in the Seat Pet Carrier and it'll unlock via the handlebar switch - I thought that was everyone's big fear!!
*
I never have to use my Key Fob to unlock the Seat, I mean NEVER.
So... what's going on here? Did they change the programming for US versions?
Is mine defective? Did the reviewers believe everything the factory told them? Does anyone have answers?
*
Didn't think I needed to say this, but, if you feel the need to express your valuable, highly personal opinion about Key Fobs in general, please don't do it here. That's a topic for another forum.
*
I hope there's an obvious ANSWER to my question, given depth of the MV community. I will even appreciate an educated guess at this point.

Don't have a fob nor would I want one for any motorbike.
A simple, straightforward, compact, reliable key for a retro modern Vespa also seems fitting.
Also unlike my car that has a smart key, when I go to the beach to go snorkeling I don't have to leave the fob unattended on the sand (with my license CC ect stashed in the car)[/quote]

My fob is in a folder with the brown key and the Owner's Manual and purchase papers. It will stay there, too.

OK, I get it; this is a hot-button subject for a lot of people - that they get off talking about. Really, not helpful.

Perhaps you just aren't getting the answers and engagement you had hoped for.

Agree about that. I see some possibilities:
1. nobody is actually reading about the issue I described, thinking about it compared to their own experience, and answering my questions because then they have to admit the strangeness of it.
2. this falls under, "it's not broken, don't fix it", so nobody cares.
3. maybe I got it all wrong; it's always been this way and there's nothing weird about it.
*
But you can understand how the answer for me is not some story about why keys are better.

Yes I understand, it's about the lack of engagement

Friend's 2023 GTS (push & twist ignition) does the same. It's a keyless system and that's how keyless systems work. Can't understand your problem. You approach the scooter, it recognizes the key, you can open the seat or unlock the steering column…

OK - a vote for #3 - nothing to see here, move along...
BUT...
page 117 - remote... Pressing .. button "B".. in "OFF" or "LOCK" .. open the saddle...
WHY, if the handlebar button work!? - I "assumed" it was because the handlebar REQUIRED the scoot to be "ON" - and I don't think I was alone in thinking that.
Regardless, THANKS for confirming my observation.

It working negates any need for the Remote to do the same thing... yes?

I never use the fob to open the saddle, always the button on the handlebar.
And I also just noticed that the emergency manual button in the glovebox is a design error too. Since, if the battery has a failure, you cant open the glovebox. Thus also not the saddle. Bc to open the glove box you'll need to rotate the button and that one is locked electronically.

Fob is in your pocket, backpack, or in your………….. (fill the blank with whatever you like)…

You approach the scooter, gets recognized, you can open the seat from the button on the handlebar…

Fob is in your hand, you press the button while approaching, you open the seat…

It gives you two options, I still don't get the fuss…

so you bought a premium product that has a redundant option? I fail to see what the fuss is about.

Silly me assuming there was a logical reason Piaggio did this:
I had it in MY head that, since the Glove Box required the scoot to be On/Running to be opened, the Handlebar Seat Unlock button followed the same rule. It is clear to me, now, that the seat button is "hot" anytime the fob is in range - even when the scoot is OFF.
I got it.
It's by design.
I have NO issue with this, now, and am not fussing about it. Really.
