Modern Vespa

Last Saturday I was able to get a good first multi-mile ride in since putting in a 300 engine and big work on the wiring harness.

I went to leave my last destination after the scooter sat a couple hours and as I was turning it over it started spewing gas all over the ground,

Checking it out I found the gas feed line popped off the top of the fuel pump.

I was able to pop it back on but inadvertently disconnected the power connection right behind it and ended up having a buddy tow it home.

Im wondering what happened here and if anyone else experienced anything like it. Looking at the tabs the fitting snaps into, they look fine.

Kinda nervous this could happen again even while riding...

I've had the similar thing happen. as best I could tell the plastic had stretched/fatigued or taken a set with age and heat cycles and the new connector wasn't a perfect fit leading to the same outcome.

I used a heat gun to soften up the connector a little and "adjust" it to put a little more bite in the connection.

So she is running good now? Besides the minor parts issue.

Running great but freaking broke my fuel injector.. New one should be in tomorrow

Did it bottom out and FI hit the pet carrier and snap?
That's a common problem with large body Vespa.

I think it bottomed out while I was dropping my fuel tank trying to see what was going on, broke my shock at the same time, heard the injector crack.. Was in too muck of a hurry. Lesson learned.
