Does anyone have a comparison between the sprint and the GTS and know which one is cheaper to maintain long term? That would be helpful as I'm on the fence about getting another sprint or gts. I have a sprint for about 30K miles so I know the belt change every 6000 miles costs me ~$500 at the dealer also oil changes every 3000 miles are about 140ish. I also have a gts but only had it for about 4000 miles so I haven't gotten to the second service yet but based on what was quoted for the 6000 miles about 300 for an oil change would seem to be about twice the price on a sprint I haven't yet gotten a belt change of course but hoping it is not anymore expensive than a sprint belt change even though it is led frequent any advice would be welcomed!

How many miles are you looking to do per year? That'll determine whether fuel economy plays a part or not.

The services aren't just oil changes, there's quite a few different checks that are performed, and different parts that are replaced are differing intervals.

I would have thought the 6000 mile service includes the belt, rollers, oil and valve adjustment - have they confirmed they are only doing an oil change for that price?

TeslaWRLD,

I know you are concerned about potential service costs. I would think there would a larger concern for what you are going to use the different scoots for. There really is no comparison. The 150 is a more of an in town scoot. The GTS300 has the get up and go for freeways and long distances.

Even though I always wanted the classic Vespa, the 150 was just not enough for me. I didn't even buy 250 when it came out. When the GTS300 came out, I bought it.

Service costs and intervals were not as important because I used my scooters mostly for recreation or occasionally running to the market. I was putting on less then 2000 miles a year. Further, the riding Season here is less than 7 months.

Good luck on your choice.

I think you are getting good advice from others. The maintenance costs are not so different that they should drive your decision (says a guy who has owned 2 GTS, 2 LX150s, and 6 other scooters). The fundamental question is how you want to use the scooter, and which model best meets your needs.
