Brakes operating normally prior to replacement. I tore down the fork greased relevant parts, used brake cleaner on appropriate parts, lightly sanded inside drum, cleaned with dry rag, replaced with what looked in all respects same brakes, replaced cable, set tension.

Now the front brakes grab hard at (for example) every time they rotate to 12 o'clock position. Basically making them unusable for safety reasons.

I got new shock amd spring and need to replace those.

Questions:

What could be causing the grabbing issue?

Cable out of adjustment range?

Could grab issue be related to the shocks being worn out and/or the spring?

Thoughts?

Sounds like the shoes aren't round and have a high spot on the top one. Or the drum is warped there.

Thinking stupid thoughts out loud, check the brake shoes are where they should be I had this on another vehicle and one of the shoes was slightly out of position.
