Hello all,

I am looking at buying a vintage vespa and was wondering where the best place to look besides the usual bikesales/market place would be. I am also interested in how to avoid paying too much, things like redbook obviously don't go back that far so how do you find the true value of a bike when there is little to compare with. Essentially searching for that guru who knows everything.

Thanks

@VespaTeca on Instagram is worth asking as they restore them https://instagram.com/vespateca

Vespa House would be worth a call https://www.vespahouse.com.au

And the clubs like

Welcome to the forum. Where are you located?

Please start by educating yourself on bodges - Bodgespotting Don't look at shiny advertised scooters without asking yourself (and us) "is it a bodge?". Huge topic in itself.

There are a number of facebook groups for Vespas and classic scooters generally, including a number of buy/sell groups.
Australian Scooterists - classic riders https://www.facebook.com/groups/171755536248935
Australian Vespa owner- Buy Sell Swap https://www.facebook.com/groups/3101625213205829 and a few others.

If in Vic Goetz regularly has one for sale https://gnclassics.com.au/
If in Qld Danny has them regularly for sale https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100005754046355
If in Sydney Sandy at Scootermeccanica (as mentioned by Steelbytes) has some for sale too.

These are just off the top of my head, all very reputable trustworthy people.

Are you looking for anything in particular?

Welcome (wherever you may be from).

As you mentioned that you can get anywhere in Australia easily, & If you really want to get one & want to meet people in the scene, head to Guildford , W.A. 2-5 November for The Australian Classic Scooter Rally... it's just down the road.

At least you won't get sold a Bodge there.
