I've done quite a few silly mods to my scooter, I'll share the latest two I did right before Amerivespa this year.
those clear side panels are good part of the idea I had some time ago:

* buy transparent matt or already in transparent colour of the Vespa
* hide light bar (no visible LEDs points version) there
*light bar should be connected with blinkers and rear position light

this should improve the visibility on the road

Okay, so this lean is on the opposite side of the bike, but still.

My second-silliest embellishment was definitely this animal skull — antelope, maybe? — that I bought from the Bone Room in North Berkeley. Shortly after I mounted it to my fender crest, I lacerated one of my fingers (badly) on one of the horns, hence the earplugs.

The silliest and stupidest things I've attached to my GTS turned out to be the most transformational in terms of riding in cold weather -- Tucano Urbano muffs and apron.

I hated the way they looked and thought them just silly things for weak-willed scooter riders. I was wrong though. With those in place I could brave the elements far below 0F.

How fast can you comfortably go with that on? Do you use heated grips or other heated gear in addition to the apron. How's traction at 0*F?

There are no speed issues with the muffs and the apron is surprisingly stable and easy to manage as well. I'm not sure I've gone over 60mph with those items installed. Don't remember any issues though.

I have heated grips and both wired and battery operated electric gloves. With the muffs installed and regular insulated gloves the heated grips are fantastic with absolutely no wind getting past the muffs. Very toasty hands down to about 25F. Below that I use the heated gloves and sometimes the grips as well. That combination keeps my hands warm down below 0F.

Because I'm not an aggressive rider and understand the decline in traction on freezing days even with dry roads I've had no issues with my regular tires. Last winter I rode on Pirelli Diablos.

For many years I would swap tires and run Heidenau K66 LT Snowtex tires. (Shown below).

I'm not sure if the tires are available anymore.

The rubber stays softer in cold weather and is impregnated with some sort of silica crystals or something to enhance traction. They are slightly "fatter" than conventional tires and extremely sluggish in response to inputs on the bars. You have to be careful when you first head out with them mounted because the quick, nimble moves usually available now seem like they are on Quualudes....

The tires have excellent traction of dry, frozen pavement. Great on wet roads, slush, and loose snow. But on hard packed snow they aren't great, and on ice they are as useless as any other tire. I bought studs for the tires but never installed them. And a couple years ago I gave the tires mounted on wheels to a GTS riding friend. I decided no more serious snow riding for me. I still ride in the winter but since I'm retired I don't feel compelled anymore to venture out in all weathers to commute to work. I'm getting soft in my old age.

One of the first rides I did with my Trail 125 involved navigating some deep snow on the shady side of a mountain. Once crested the top and hit the sunlight the snow was gone. But the Trail 125 makes snow even more manageable for me than the GTS. It's lower and I can more easily muscle it around with my feet down.

But the real lesson is I no longer venture out into snow intentionally anymore. Along with Medicare, Social Security, and a free local bus pass comes the revelation that I don't really like being cold!

The Trail 125 is a fun bike. I do a little maintenance on one for a friend and she loves it. She was going to go for a new Super Cub but this Trail came up on the used market for a bit less than the dealer price without all the add-ons. I told I liked it over the Cub as it is so much more practical with the big back rack for in town grocery runs and errands. Adding in the back disc brake and the side stand too and it's a winner. Of course you can load up the Cub with accessories, but I still think the Trail is a better deal. We took it out on some local trails and she is having a blast. She had it over here for an oil change, chain lube/adjustment and remarked the the scoot is getting 135 MPG. Amazing little machines. I'm keeping my eyes open for one.
I'm with you and being a FL boy, I hate the cold. I can deal with any sort of heat but still prefer early morning rides when it is cool during the hotter months. Being retired as well, I don't get disappointed if it rains all weekend and I don't get a nice ride in. I got time all week to ride.
