Curious as to what methods of shipping do statewide folk choose when ordering from SIP. I see there are several options and some quite pricey and would love to hear about anyone's experiences. Thanks!

UPS or DHL. Keep it under $800 and you'll fly under the radar for customs and tariffs.
Tried FedEx and it got hung up for weeks. I noticed it was taking a while, and called them. Turns out my stuff was stuck in TN at their import facility and I had to fill out a wacky Federal Motor Vehicle Safety, Bumper and Theft Prevention Standards form. An email and a few calls later, my stuff finally left. Wasn't that difficult in hindsight, but FedEx was no help so I'd avoid using them |

I am (was) so fortunate to have a local shop that ordered from SIP. I would always piggy back on there orders and cut my costs from the exorbitant shipping. Other wise I was always at the mercy of minimum orders and long delivery times...

I placed an order from SIP scooter shop a couple of months ago (set of white wall tires and a sport seat for my 2001 et4). I used the DHL delivery. I got my order within a few weeks; delivery was $70. I was extremely happy with the whole process. I'm in New Jersey.

Scooter Mercato out of Georgia used to do weekly/bi-weekly orders. He sells mostly parts for the 2T Vespas, but he also dabbles in the modern stuff. You may be able to get in on an order and save a lot on shipping. Send the owner David an email to inquire.

I learned it doesn't matter what you pay for with them. I chose UPS once and FedEx the next time.
Both times DHL dropped it off. And neither time was the box undamaged. At least the first time nothing was missing..... |

It cost me 3 weeks and $50 for my troubles. Not sure if not choosing FedEx would have mattered... For the foreseeable future I'm sticking with domestic.... Earlier in the dozen, I got dinged on a $1200 order by UPS. Nice collections lady said to keep it under $800 and it's been smooth sailing ever since! Usually get my order within a week. My most recent order (10/3) I tried FedEx Economy as it was probably cheapest (don't remember.) Price with shipping was just under $800. FedEx is the only carrier that's ever had me fill out forms/declare anything. Just received my order last night (10/20). Last time I'd use them.

I go for a cheaper shipping offer available, usually UPS and most often I get my parts within 24 to 48 hours. No issues ever.

I learned earlier this year that the real problem with SIP is when you have a problem with what they sent. I bought a lot of stuff from them in the past but will never buy from them again.

I just ordered and picked the cheapest method which was DHL. I'm not too jazzed with the tracking, because there are no details or updates. It's apparently in the US somewhere since the beginning of the week and no indication of when I'll actually see the parts. Wish it wasn't so ridiculous. I buy cheap trinkets from China and the shipping is free or at negligible cost.

I've ordered multiple times from SIP and I don't recall picking a shipping option, but I would go with whatever is cheapest.
DHL has a hub in Cincy (about an hour from me) so I typically get my stuff from them in 7-10 days. |

i had weird (positive) experience w ordering from sip.
orders a seat for my gts 300. think scooterwest was out or it was somehow about $100 cheaper from sip - even with $80 overnight shipping. Guess it depends where you live - but was able to ship to nyc overnight Still not sure how that was possible. Later i looked into shipping something from sip to ohio, and overnight wasnt an option and shipping was way more$ |

Have you heard of pirate ship? I used it recently to ship a package too. San Jose from Nashville. No charge to open up an account, then you input box size, weight, and destination and the quote comes up. I found it was approximately half the price that UPS was quoting me. They emailed the shipping label and I took the box to UPS and show them the shipping label and they took it from there. So you still get it shipped through UPS but at at a much lower rate.
