does it catch a fingernail? you can always run a ball hone over it if it does.
what cylinder is that? I had to ask. |

Honda moped? It looks like what was on my Express SR.
Or maybe an Suzuki FA50? If Honda, order a "B" piston and hone it. |

the ball hones are great but once you get too much clearance it's over. that's what happened on my Malossi 166 kit - I cleaned it up great but then it was piston slapping so hard that it needed to go first over. not too much work to try and clean it up though.

Here's a bad influence:
https://www.treatland.tv/SearchResults.asp?Search=Nc50 Treats is a great stateside source for moped/moped parts.

So, if I hone out the scratches and can keep the ring end gap in spec, I'm ok with the standard piston size? And yes, its an NC50.

I ran a 240 grit ball hone through and while I can still see the scratches I can't feel them. No glaze anymore and a nice 45 degree crosshatching now. Installed new rings, clips and gaskets. The piston diameter, cylinder bore and ring gap are all within specs. Going to run a compression test later today. Fingers crossed.
