I am considering matching the carb to carb box to engine case on my P125X project. Is the juice really worth the squeeze? I am running a VMC Stelvio 177 kit with a Mazu long stroke crank and a SI 24/24 E with a drilled float bowl passage to 2.7 mm.

Thanks in advance!

is the engine all together? then no. just match the carb to the box and call it done.

if it's still in pieces then I would, along with a gasket match on case/barrel.

I second this. You've come this far....

Reminds me of a story.....

The Stella I used to own - Olive was her name - was bone stock. I cleaned up the reed block, put in boyseen reeds, flowed the carb to the box, and rejetted. A friend (Geoff) was riding it one day and asked me what I've done to her. Nothing. He says, BS, you did something because it's running amazing well and fast for a stock Stella.

Greasy,

The engine is all together and pressure tested. I haven't matched carb to the carb box and carb box to engine case yet. I'm getting close to installing the engine and thought I'd get some input. It's easier to match everything up while the engine is still on the engine stand.

I just built a motor w/ a tamer two port Pinasco 177 and stock 20/20 carb. I matched airbox to case & carb to airbox when I had the chance and it didn't take much time. I figured that it would give the modern top end and bigger than stock carb a better chance to breathe well at higher RPMs. How much better than if I hadn't done it, I don't have a clue. But you've invested in some nice kit there, so why not this too?

Ok ok

Looks like the consensus is to do it. So that will be this weekends project. The weather is supposed to be crappy! Rain mixed with snow, so it'll be a good weekend to work inside on the scoot!
