Hi guys Is it worth drilling a SI24/24G float chamber on a Vespa T5 with a malossi 172 kit when the engine hasn't been ported.

Depending on how certain you want to be about your carb flow, there's actually three places you really need to drill:
1) The float bowl passage, which everyone knows about
2) The opening from the banjo into the float filter chamber
3A) Chamfer the float needle passage at the top
3B) Drill the float needle seat and swap to a larger float needle

1, 2, and 3A are all easy and no reason not to do.

3B needs a 4.4mm float needle (SIP have them) and you'll need to make sure there are no burrs on the needle seat. It's also the least significant because it has the largest stock flow.
