Modern Vespa

Yesterday on the freeway, I was flipped the "bird" my first one (well, one that I've seen!) - either that or the guy was indicating he had a speck on his rear view mirror with his middle index finger
... trouble is, I think I deserved it.
I was going with the flow, changed lanes, looked, indicated but at that moment he decided to floor it in his ute (it was peak traffic but I think he liked acceleration).
Then a toot.
I spot him in my mirrors and sort of wave my left hand "apologetically" - maybe it looked bad from where he was.
Next minute, he cuts in front of me as I always leave a fair amount of room and up comes the "bird".
I'm thinking of painting tiny "bird" stencils on my GT - like the WW2 fighter pilots did when they got a trophy.

I bet he was merely putting his hand up "I want a Vespa too"

He's jealous of your gas mileage.

I don't think he will be purchasing a Vespa any time soon! Didn't see him this morning...

I'm originally from Taunton - grew up there, got chased about a fair bit when I was a punk rocker from the 70s - not a friendly place at the best of times

Around the Greater Toronto Area it is quite common to see that signaling your intention to change lanes causes the driver in the targeted lane to wake up and initiate sudden acceleration. If you actually have the gall to continue into "their lane" you will experience some form of indignant and aggressive response.

I see this even driving my van - I rarely signal much ahead of beginning to take the lane. It's kind of fun to see people react in such a mindless and predictable way...if you're wrapped in a cage.
