Is there an easy way to install this wire that will keep it away from the exhaust?

Yes I thought of that, but there wasn't a zip tie on the old one, so there must be a way route it so it stays separated.

rotate the cap so that the wire doesn't hang down as much. on later models there is a clip that the cap indexes that assists in this.

is the wire aftermarket? it shouldn't be that close to the exhaust at all...

Quote "is the wire aftermarket?" Yes, from scooterwest, with the cap already attached. $20. I will attempt in the morning, I have to lay it on the right side so I can see up her dress.

I'm sure you will be relieved to know I installed the new coil wire today. It took about 2 hours with much getting up and down to either get another tool or take a peek from the other side. I managed to get a zip tie installed to keep it away from the exhaust this time. That chore only took a measly 30 minutes. I was telling myself I will not buy another Vespa. It is much too difficult to do basic maintenance on this scoot. If only the fender cowls were removable like they were on the old 2 strokes.

I presume the battery and all fluids were removed prior this delicate operation?

To save confusion and for future topic searches maybe it's a good idea to amend the thread tile to Coil wire (HT lead).
