Same here Motorola g 5G. My previous phone was also a Motorola. I don't know if it's a Motorola thing.

Someone said to just get an iPhone but I can't because my house is in an iPhone dead spot. Whenever someone with an iPhone comes to my house they can't get a signal.

A couple of people said it might be an app that is doing it. I uninstalled every app that I don't use regularly but didn't help.

Znomit,

I really had to look up Pitcarin Islands. Four tops of volcanos sticking up out of the middle of the Pacific Ocean. British Protectorate. Wow, what are the mathematical odds of meeting someone from the Pitcarin Islands?

You have expanded my Geographic Knowledge.

I think this is most likely a carrier issue, not an iPhone issue. There isn't any reason why an iPhone (but not other phones) would be subject to a dead spot in a specific location.

There are most definitely carrier dead spots, though, where the cellular company hasn't put up enough cell towers for a specific location.

Whatever service your existing phone uses (that has coverage in your area) should work fine on an iPhone.

For what it's worth - sometimes, in my fat hand/fingers attempt to grab/carry my iPhone, I have observed it is easy to land on the volume button (up or down), resulting in silent or (worse) too loud ring/notifications.

Definite operator issue, not product defect.

I didn't mean to imply that the lack of service at my house was an issue with the phone.

As you said I think that my house is not close enough to a compatible tower.

From what I can tell from what others have said is that the area of signal dropout is very small. Maybe not much more than a square mile or two. Hardly a big enough area to justify putting in another tower.

But your own phone works in that area, right? What carrier do you use?

Theoretically, an iPhone with Verizon service should work approximately as well.

Customer service. My garage door opener is suddenly unresponsive to remotes. Checked my manual, no luck with troubleshooting. Went to website, automated chat just regurgitated the manual. Called the number, ONE HOUR wait time, so went with callback option, and of course I got busy and just barely missed the call. Crying or Very sad emoticon Called back again, now the wait was 90 minutes, so, back to the website, pushed through the chat options and now they have my email and will get back to me within 24 hours.

On the bright side, at least our wired button is working...

First check the batteries in the remote. Check the antenna at the powerhead. If the unit is over 15 years old, you probably have to replace it. Mine lasted 18 years. If it's under 10 years, it probably can be reprogrammed.

Thanks, but did that...even though none of the 4 remotes work. Miss my old opener that lasted forever. This thing's under 10.

Is the phone in your pocket, or lying on the table within your sight? If the latter, it's normal behaviour if you have the 'recognise face' thingy turned on, as the phone assumes you are looking at it...

That's interesting because once I happened to be looking at my phone when I received a call and I saw that the ring volume went down before I answered the call.

I'll look into it

Key fobs.

I replaced the battery in my BV400's key fob, per the instructions in the owners manual. Except for the four teeny-tiny screws inside, changing the battery wasn't too difficult. But now I can't get the damned thing back together! Crying or Very sad emoticon

Should I take it to the dealer and have them deal with it?

As for the phone service thread, I'll jump in here (since I didn't notice anyone else mention it -- if so, my apologies...) but when my partner and I are at home, we switch (well, the PHONE switches) over to wi-fi calling. We do it on cruise ships, too, so we don't pay astronomical international bills and still use our phones pretty much as per usual. We, too, are with Verizon. We live slap in the open desert, and our internet is satellite. It runs our lives quite well. We've had but one outage in the past 7 years, and it lasted only about 20 minutes.

Just passin' it along.

JKJ-F76 & Fledermaus,

Kraig and Dave, I do take my battery dead Fob to the dealer (Scooterville) and
have the service guy swap out the battery in front of me. Quick and fast, but, the inconvenience of going to the dealer.

They advised the Fob battery can die over the Winter nonriding season or at least every year.

Keep the Fob and give me a damn key. I know the new models have to be upbeat technologically.

Cell phone coverage,

I have an Apple I-Phone with Verizon/T-Mobile. It seems to work everywhere. When I am on extended group scooter rides into the way back country, everyone borrows my phone when their service fails.

I jokingly tell them to quit buying those cheap Walmart Burner throw away phones.

Jimc,

I own the I-Phone and pay for the cell phone connection service with T-Mobile.
I pay about $35.25 a month per phone (Wife, Daughter and Self) which also includes Tax and Insurance (Drop or wreck the phone some how).

Piaggio just updated their MIA app for Android and now it's minimum supported Android version is 12 (used to be 10). According to Google restricting to 12 and above means only 48.6% of devices.

PS my alternative vespa app supports 4.4

PPS the 310 is still not listed even though people in europe are already buying and riding them

I am planning to retire just after the first of the year. I have been keeping my head down and working hard to the finish line. Last week one of my colleagues sent me a countdown timer that plays on my iPhone. It has totally ruined my attitude. After seeing the countdown, I feel like a short timer.

Now it feels like I am making license plates.

My attitude my last few months was that I was just working to collect a few more paychecks with which to finalize my plans and finance the first few months of retirement. I tried (with varying success) not to let the rampant idiocy bother me as much as it had been. It was pretty liberating, really, and when things did piss me off I reminded myself that I could walk away at any time and I didn't have to put up with it any more if I really didn't want to. The hardest part was not telling anyone before I was ready, as I was pretty sure if I announced my plan to retire they'd preemptively fire me.

I know this feeling well. If it's any consolation, your coworkers have already started adjusting their expectations, either consciously or unconsciously.

Wait, maybe I'm not helping. Sorry.

LOL. That's great! When I originally planned to retire on July 5th, 2022, I joked that that day would be my independence day. About 2 weeks before, my boss asked for me to stay on for the rest of the year moving the horizon out another 6 months. I relented because we were so busy. So, it could be worse for you. Pro tip: After you retire get in as good as shape as possible with diet, exercise, and getting out as much as possible. I have known too many people that look at retirement as a time to sit on the couch and chill. Then 2 years later you are attending their funeral.

Pro tip: After you retire get in as good as shape as possible with diet, exercise, and getting out as much as possible. I have known too many people that look at retirement as a time to sit on the couch and chill. Then 2 years later you are attending their funeral.
This is sage advice. Thank you.

Pratt & Whitney, East Hartford, CT, had a sort of unofficial 18 Month Club. Apparently that was the average life expectancy for hourly employees' retirement. One guy from our office lasted about 6 months before expiring after retiring. Seems that a sedentary retirement leads to early expiration.

This is pretty much hearsay that was going around some years ago, but I did hear of several early demises that supported it.

Moral: Get busy living or get busy dying. (From a certain movie.)
