Got to find a replacement for our favorite spatulas now. And our measuring cups, too.

Now I am eyeing the innards of the Nespresso machine with suspicion. Dammit!

We transitioned to wooden spatulas and stir/scrape tools some years ago.

Nice knowing you all! Razz emoticon

Actually, give me an extra 5 years at least for catching up with household tasks.

Yeah, I also came here to share.....I'd already shared my garage door opener saga, but I think it's finally over. I was about to put up with the hour wait BS to talk to a human, ready to buy a replacement but decided one more go.

Unplugged the unit, then realized the plug in my hand was for an accessory light, not the opener. Removed that one, reprogrammed the nearest remote...and it worked! So do the other two... Facepalm emoticon

My father in law retired in early 2004.

He and my mother in law moved from McAllen, TX to Van Buren, AR that spring to be close to their son & grandson.

That July he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

He died in early November 2004.

Are we talking Spatulas here? You guys are a hoot. I never met a spatula I didn't like. After that, I got nothing.

Going home to get ready to pass out candy to the trick or treaters. Those hardy rascals will have to face some cold damp weather here in Frost Bite Falls MN.

I believe that the ref missed a knock-on by NZ (#21?) in the last maul that earned them a penalty instead...

I've been griping about our new Corolla Cross and the alignment issue we've been having. The short story is at 5K miles the rear camber was out. Their spec is +0.7º to -0.8º. We were at -1.1º and -1.4º on our normal checkup. And they couldn't fix that because there's no adjustment from the factory. So, several visits later Toyota decides to fix it by replacing the nearly new control arms. It didn't go smoothly requiring us to drive a loaner for the weekend, but when I got it back my paperwork had no report for the alignment. I asked for a copy and he dug through his paperwork, flashing it at me and saying, "See, it's all green." I told him I was taking a picture for reference. Guess where the new control arms put our camber ...

-0.7º and -0.8º.

Right at the ragged edge of spec.

Now, I've worked in metrology for more than three decades. I know how specs and tolerances work. That isn't fixed. <sigh!>

I can't wait until the next checkup.

Some you win, some you lose. I thought NZ earned the win with their 3 tries to Englands 1.

I suspect SA will turn us over on the 16th too unless the Boks have a bad day in the office.

JIMC,

It may be different in different States. My bill arrives from Verizon with T-Mobile service. I expect the one bought the other in my State.

Verizon/T Mobile and ATT&T represent about 80% of the cell phone users in Minnesota. There are a bunch of other ankle biters.

Verizon and T-Mobile are separate entities. To the best of my knowledge, one does not own the other. Rather, T-Mobile is owned by Deutsche Telecom.

Weird problem with my car.

My FIAT has been practically maintenance free for nearly three years. It sat a little longer than usual a couple of weeks ago and I had a low pressure warning for one of my tires. I looked at the levels and they were all still right around the same pressure, 30-32lb, so I didn't jump right on it.

Then I had a second. And a third. And it must be the trigger point is 30-31. So even though they were all even I fired up the compressor and put on my glasses to see what the pressure is supposed to be.

So, side-note, why is it that the one number you actually need, the inflation number, is one of the smallest numbers on the stupid tire? Anyway, back to the story.

Shame on me, the pressure is supposed to be 44. Yikes. So I filled them properly until I got to the right rear. Nothing. I can't get air in or out. The valve is no longer a valve.

Now, I could go out and buy a valve tool and a new inner and sit on my garage floor and replace the ... no. I'm going to take it in. The way these stories always go for me is I get halfway in before I find the bigger problem I can't fix anyway.

What I think may have happened is this. These cars don't come with a spare. They come with an air pump and a can of fix-a-flat. I think someone at some point "fixed" it and sealed up the valve in the process.

Normally the number on the tire is the maximum pressure the tire is rated for. The correct pressure for your car should be printed on a label, usually found inside the drivers door on the B pillar. If you're using the number from the tire, you're probably over-inflating.

My 3-D printer went nuts and tore itself apart last night. Fortunately it came with most of the spare parts needed to fix it. Part of the cause, I think, was the thumbscrews for leveling the bed came off. I'll have to come up with some kind of locknut to keep the screws from vibrating loose.

This is supposed to keep me busy this winter.

Depends. Different tires have different ratings. Those are factory specs that only apply to stock tires. Maybe.

But ... case in point ... my FIAT vehicle spec is 32psi. I throw TPMS errors at 31. I can't even see FCA making that blunder.

My '85 Porsche 928 stock pressure specs were 36 front / 44 rear. The Toyo Proxes tires I had on it 45 front / 32 rear

Seamus - I resisted getting a digital tire pressure gauge for the longest time, but now would not go back to the old stick ones. Big numbers on the screen and even backlit - so much easier to see.

This is a regular occurrence on my Fiat 500e as well. I often ignore it until it is fairly low, since I don't actually drive very much.

That seems high to me. I've been filling to 35. Are you sure it's 44?

This is a regular occurrence on my Fiat 500e as well. I often ignore it until it is fairly low, since I don't actually drive very much.

That seems high to me. I've been filling to 35. Are you sure it's 44?
That is max. It should be lower. I should run probably high 30s. They are the low profile Firehawks that came on the car. The thing that gets me is the one that's stuck.

I'm on the fence about keeping / replacing them. Once that back tire can breathe again I'll go back and adjust them accordingly.

The other thing that threw me was the handheld inflater that I use on my compressor was way off. I dug out one of the old dollar store zip stick types and it matched my TPMS almost exactly. So I was doing a lot of 'fiddling'.

What theayn said is true ... the number on the tire is max pressure at load, so it should be lower than what the tire says.

Oh, and for the record, I am still averaging 165.2mpge or 4.9 miles/Kwh. I'd translate that to furlongs/joule for you, but you know how math works.
