It's getting above freezing here starting on the weekend. Maybe I'll back my GTS out of the garage and join you in riding!

The 'damage' will not exceed $300 according to him, and they will bill us. Maybe they know it's my birthday today and gave me a good deal? Nah......but it's a lot less than it could have been anyway. My new job is getting me down in the dumps, I'm being paid more than ever before but I feel I'm not earning it.
I've been used to working hard for 9 hours a day and feeling that I've earned the company some good coin but at the minute I'm struggling to find something worthwhile to pass the time. Perhaps starting a new job thats predominately outside or alone in a car during January in the Northern Hemisphere isn't the best idea. |

My (former?) neighbor.
I'm one of the last people to invite "the man" into daily activities, but tonight was a deal-breaker for me. Neighbor was an ignorant moron who got new sheltie puppies because they're just so got-dang cute and then never trained them. At all. Not even with simple at-home stuff. So they defecated all over her floors, chewed up baseboards, and--most importantly--barked. At everything. Including the literal got-dang WIND. Anywho, she finally moved out several weeks ago. House empty with a for-sale sign, contractors in and out to paint/new baseboards/new floors/et cetera. House is still empty. Except one thing, today she was there with one of the contractors (I know this intimately because the jackwagon nearly hit the Bonneville trying to share a parking space with it because he was too lazy to walk an extra 10 feet--I educated him on how a gentleman would handle such a conundrum in the future) having a rather loud conversation. The dogs were present, barking as ever. She and sir contracticus departed around.....3pm? Dogs are still in the (extremely empty) house. No idea if they have any food, water, ability to go outdoors to relieve themselves (though since it didn't bother her for 4+ years living in the house daily I suppose it would bother her less now), the works. Barking nearly non-stop since 3. It's now 9pm. 6 hours of borkage. Left voicemails for the realtor, then called in animal control. Spose they'll knock the door down.

It is really really difficult to make nasty dogs out of shelties (sp?) but it seems your moron ex neighbor succeeded. At least they will all be gone - eventually.

Par for the cops here. I guess that illustrates the competence level with which the US Secret Service refuses to associate. One of less than TEN LE agencies around the country they won't work with. But they sure do cry about people not having any respect for them on their press conferences. |

Thanks jess. I suppose i wasn't clear enough that incompetent LE is worse than being left to one's own devices entirely. Not doing the job we pay them to do, to the extent that the people who protect the President refuse to deal with them at all, is abhorrent. After 21 years and change i sorta have these expectations since it was REALLY not difficult to do my job well and care about the output/work product.
Interesting that he would rant about those who are capable of helping suffering animals and choose not to, then rant on me for pointing out that......they had the ability to help suffering animals and chose not to lol. Shrug. It be what it be. The dogs are no longer in the domicile, and the realtor has some minor repairs to make in the coming days. Change a lock, replace a "realtor's keybox". Dogs may be up for adoption in a couple months, they have to do a predetermined hold since they're known/confirmed pets.

looking to buy a ´new´ car. Would like to fit a tow hitch.
So what?? Well, many 21st C. models have the supposedly E-friendly stop/go function. More often than not this is not compatible with a tow hitch. Beats me why and I find it HÍGHLY irritating, more so because again more often than not it is not specced in the sales info whether the specific car has it or not. You need to ask the seller. |

Many newer cars like my 2018 Honda have CVT transmissions, which aren't recommended for towing either.

In fairness VW claims no towing possible with their DSG here in the US.....euro models still have a capacity over 3k pounds.
CVTs are definitely not good for it. At least start-stop can be bypassed and lighting modules now account for modern factory voltage ridiculousness. |

SteelBytes since you didn't give me much to work with, I looked at your recent posts. Are you getting a message about double posts?
You did actually post twice in one of the threads. It appears you added text to circumvent the double post issue, but your first post did actually go through:

SteelBytes I've just added some diagnostic logging to the duplicate post detection code so that I can try to gather information. If you continue to see the problem, I should get some details in the logs, but it would be helpful to know the sequence of events on your end.

I write a comment and click submit. I get post-truth error claiming I'm using IE (Bill Dog would be proud). I add junk text. I click submit again. No error. Over the last week or two I've had several 502s but none in the last couple of days (iirc only with submit?). Definitely none today. didn't notice the doubles - seem to related to clicking Edit |

Adding text means you have a different hash than the first time, so yes, that would circumvent the duplicate post check. The question is, why are you getting the message in the first place? I'm not seeing any signs that this is happening elsewhere, but I only just added the diagnostic logging for this, so I'll have to keep an eye on it for a bit longer. Damn, I am not a doctor, but it looks like the two bottom discs are herniated and the two above that are too compressed. After going thru spinal surgery a few months ago (and two others before that) I can relate. iI hope he has a really good doctor and physical therapist to help him out. Getting old is not without it's struggles.

She's not in a good mood. One of those days to question what we're doing here. |
