Killed a Whitetail doe this morning at 5:30 AM, and smashing up the F-150's front end doing it.

Not a good start to my, or the deer's day.

If he text'd you at 6.30 am, when did he realise that he'd made a mistake because I'd suggest that he wasn't at work when he sent the message.

If he text'd you back quickly how did he make the adjustments for the deal so soon without having the deal file to hand, him being at home n shit ?

Retired at the end of September, immediately went to Italy. TMO dragged their feet til we went to Prague in December, and as we're about to head to Venice (and then Vegas in May) along with the fact it's Colorado (and moving there in the winter isn't exactly ideal) summer became the target.

Doesn't help that someone's also dragging her feet because she's lazy and keeps complaining about losing all her clients here, etc.

Took her about 4 months till she was fully booked a month in advance, and that was in 2008/2009 when the economy wasn't exactly ideal for luxury pampering stuff like seeing a massage therapist weekly.

I'll put it this way, *I'M* moving in the summer. Would love if she got motivated to come along lol.

The suzuki was never sold in the US. And the scoot would have probably been easier to get around the deer excepting a last-second leap.

I would tell them that they either honor the original deal or they can expect to hear from your lawyer.

Just announced - new "luxury outlet mall" (screaming oxymoron?) to be built less than 1 mile from my house and along my only road between me and virtually anywhere I want/need to go. 75 stores, hotels, etc.

I was only driving at 45 mph in a 45 zone, when the deer ran out from the right side of the road and directly in front of the pickup.

All I saw was a brown streak shooting to the left before it disappeared beneath the hood line, then BOOM!, and the impact sent the deer tumbling in front of me and ending up on the shoulder of the road, very, very motionless. There was no blood or other carnage, just it's dead body.

It was dead the instant it hit, like God just flipped a light switch and it was done. It couldn't have suffered.

I'll admit that I was relieved that it wasn't just severely injured, but totally gone in that split second.

I stopped, put on the hazard lights, and got out to assess the situation, look the deer over, and make sure the truck was drivable. I had to walk back a few yards and find my front license plate laying on the roadway.

You'd think that a 45 mph deer collision wouldn't be as damaging to a Ford F-150 as it was, especially by a 90-100 pound deer, but it took a LOT of unfortunate energy to bend that big steel pickup bumper as much as it did, almost bending it far enough down and back to hit the front tire on that side, which would have been a MAJOR problem because I was on a strict schedule to be somewhere this morning.

I'll be very surprised if the repair will come in at under $4000.

Well, the poor deer IS dead for it's trouble, but all I'm going to be out of is a bunch of unanticipated money down the proverbial toilet.

As a motorcycle/scooter rider, the thought of that sort of explosive collision with an animal that size is a sobering notion, and would have undoubtedly had a very bad outcome for both involved parties.

The big revelation here is that sometimes this stuff happens SO fast, SO unexpectedly, that you realize that no matter how experienced, or how skilled, a rider is, sometimes absolutely nothing can prevent it.

Smashed grill (plastic), broken fascia beneath the grill, and one seriously effed up steel bumper. Can you imagine doing that much damage with a 90 pound body at just 45 mph?

I was similarly (same approx speed) hit by a deer in an Audi A8 about 12 years ago and the cost of that was over $20k. F-150 damage should be less, but I predict a lot more than $4k for your Ford.

The 'clutter' of the truck's interior almost certainly blocked some possible vision of the deer as it neared the road, but it was still pitch dark so it's just a guess as to whether I might have seen it in time to brake or perform some evasive action.

Living where I do, I have a number of near-miss deer encounters every year, and most are while riding motorcycles or the Vespa. I'm actually surprised that I haven't had any nasty deer collisions in the thirty+ years I've been driving and riding in the Black Hills region.

This was only my second deer hit in all those years, the first being with a 50,000 pound, 65 mph tour bus, and now with the pickup...but the very near misses have been in the dozens...and dozens.

I hope you had comprehensive insurance! If so, do NOT tell them you hit a deer - tell them a deer hit YOU!

Heck, we just got the truck back from the body shop three months ago when we had last year's hail damage to it finally repaired.....for the third time.

Thanks for chiming in on the car, guys. I trust the salesman and have dealt with the dealer before. I think it was an honest mistake. I didn't have a signed contract, nor an assessment on our trade in up to this point. As it turns out, we've decided to sell an older car we'd been holding for our son during college, and pass this one to them. Problem solved, or at least feel better about it!

Happened just now. Standard write comment and click submit. (no attachments). Yes it did appear in the post when I checked (in separte tab) but also had the error.

Maybe adding some JS to the submit button to set a var when clicked and check it during click to avoid double clicks, not that I think I am but paranoia is handy.

Thanks for the heads up. The diagnostic log didn't tell me much, besides the hash value. It looks like a valid hash, though (i.e. not null) so ultimately not very useful.

Looks like that diagnostic log has been triggered a few times by random members, though not frequently. Just a handful in the last couple days. Hard to know if people are double-clicking the button or... something else.

I can experiment with some javascript to disable the post button after clicking, though I am slightly concerned that there will be unintended consequences. Still, if it works it would be reasonable insurance.

Please learn to stay on your side of the road.

It works on just about every forum I've belonged to, going back a couple of decades! At least one had a hover text that appeared over the Submit button, though that forum has disappeared so I can't reproduce it. I tend to use keyboard shortcuts as much as possible.

Hah! A mother-in-law (now departed) used to put the vegetables on as the same time she put the meat joint in the oven - then they went off to church which round-trip was at least an hour and a half.

She never knew cauliflower wasn't a grey mush, or that sprouts could be somewhat crunchy.
